To still go to work tomorrow?

I'm due to work in hospital tomorrow, auxiliary nurse. I am only working one day then a few off. I've been specifically called in as we are going to be very short staffed. I'm on monitoring for having been off sick too much (endometriosis and a nasty chest infection) but had a review meeting last week in which my boss said she was quite happy as I haven't been unwell at all since January so havent needed any time off at all.

I've just vomited. I feel fainty, pounding headache and shaky. I think its a time of the month thing - I often feel weird during periods - but I'm not sure. I've got anti sickness medication, strong painkillers and I've still got 15 hours before I'm due to start work.

Would I be wrong to go to work, stick to (normal) super stringent hand hygiene and see how I go? I'm not planning on telling anyone unless I am still ill after say midnight or so.. If that was the case I would then call in..

Its just that I feel if I do call in it will look a bit suspicious given it was a random day on, that I already asked to have off, straight after I've been told my sick leave level has improved greatly!!

You don't need to have the 48 hours clear after just one random vomit and no diarrhoea.

See how you go this evening, hope you start to feel better. Flowers

Agree with Sauvignon if the vomiting is a one-off and you have no diarrhoea then I think it is fine to go in. It is unlikely to be infectious with that picture.

If you keep vomiting however definitely don't go - but then you will feel too ropey anyway!

Hope ut settles down.

In your circumstances I would go in, assuming I felt well enough to do the job. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Do go mean you you haven't been off sick since January this year ?

In these circumstances, I'd be going to work. Thanks

If you've got d&v you would have projectile vomiting & / or explosive diarrhoea with a horrible smell, stomach cramps & a fever probably.

I think I'd take the anti-sickness & painkillers & go to work. I say this as someone who's been through the whole NHS 'sickness' procedures through no fault of my own, and got colleagues who've had Warnings placed in their files.

Good luck x

Aye it's def not a bug. I haven't been sick since 3, just knackered. I think it is just hormonal. I will see how tonight goes. If I sleep well that'll help. I'm starting night shift on Wed and half looking forward to the break.. I'm one of only two hcas looking after 32 tomorrow :/
