To like the idea of going on holiday more than the reality of it

I'm due to fly home from holiday today after a lovely time with my family. However the rest of the holiday experience has been horrendous due to other holiday makers thinking being away means you take a holiday from parenting the children and a holiday from any manners of your own

The behaviour of other people really has ruined my break away and, as this has been our first holiday in years as we haven't been able to afford one, it's really upset me.

Perhaps I shouldn't go away any more and just stay home? The idea of holidays is so much better than actually being on one!

SSD
I would also love an airport if I knew I could sit in a lounge away from everyone. Then get on a plane and turn left!
One day. Wink

Hi Wanabee,

The biggest room without a seperate bedroom we had was in Egypt at the Jungle Aqua Park - a large room with dividing sliding doors so DD had her own space.

At Holiday Village Viva in Majorca we had a seperate bedroom and living area with a small kitchenette, as we did at the Louis King Jason in Paphos and the Oasis in Fuertaventura.

The Louis was the bed for food, the Oasis best for location and the Aqua Park best for waterpark loving DD Smile

My daughter and I are staying with my lovely in-laws in their second home, all mod cons apartment on the Costa Blanca. All flights, meals and days out paid for by my father-in-law. Daughter spoiled by her grandparents. Our laundry done. Mother-in-law has even done all the ironing. My only contribution is loading and unloading the dishwasher and a couple of coffees when out and about.
The sun is warm. The sea is visible from the apartment and we swam in it at the weekend. I'm getting a bit of a tan. I am having a great time

I am so looking forward to being at home it's unreal…

I love holidays. We always book our own apartments. Or a cottage in UK. Package holidays don't appeal although I'm sure my 3 kids would love it.

It's brilliant to see I'm not the only person with an aversion to holidays!!

I adore holidays and spend hours researching and planning each one (while remaining flexible while there). DH is awful at travelling and gets massively anxious prior to leaving, though loves it when there. If it were left to him, we'd never go away ever. His only contribution to planning is that we decide on the country/city together, then I get total freedom on decisions. I even love researching the types of train ticket available and have been known to watch videos beforehand that show you how to select the correct ticket. Part of this is my own anxiety of not wanting to get in a middle while there.

The only part I hate is the airport. It makes me feel lightheaded and spacey when inside.
