To think that shoes costing £50+ should be able to be rehealed?

Lots of lovely shoes in this kind of price bracket and some of them (especially flats) can't be taken to the cobblers and healed. Aibu to think wish that more thought be given to this fact and the longevity of shoes?

Up to a point I agree with you Euphemia but I tend to buy "good" shoes (like Ecco, Van Daal, Joseph Seibel, Reickers etc.) when they come on sale and I have pairs that have literally lasted years without re-heeling.

I've found some amazing bargains trawling clearance sales etc. and because they are well made they really don't wear out easily even when I wear them a lot at work.

Is it not possible to get a flat "protector" type of thing put on when they are new to help save wear and tear if you find the heels are wearing out?

Depends on your cobbler. I've used a gentleman who makes shoes as well, so I don't know if that makes a difference. But he's not been beaten yet. Even when the shoe shop I bought a particular pair from expressed disbelief when I told them I was only replacing them as my cobbler finally couldn't resole them anymore. They were adamant it couldn't be done.

You need a good cobbler. its hard these days because most have been replaced with franchises but there are still cobblers and saddlers around. I have some flat Gucci pumps with soft leather soles and fabric uppers. mine has replaced the leather annually for the last 5 years which everyone else said wouldn't be possible. I haven't bought any shoes since 2010!

I get shoes re-soled and re-heeled regularly. I have a pair of pretty inexpensive boots going still that were bought when I was on mat leave in 1990!

I don't think £50 is much for a pair of shoes tbh (even though I rarely pay more).

Surely the style has a lot to do with reheeling?
