To be miffed by this

This Easter I recieved an Easter card but on the front was a picture of the sender's PFB!
Aibu to think Easter has completely lost its true meaning? I find that very sad.

And what do you think is the true meaning and why do you think that's the only reason people celebrate easter?

Here we celebrate new life, we aren't christian.

Doubtfuldaphne · 04/04/2015 09:36

Well none of the true meanings behind Easter are their PFB are they!

OP posts:
Hurr1cane · 04/04/2015 09:38

Well, they get more time off, so for them the meaning of easter might be family.

More time to share with them.

Bowlersarm · 04/04/2015 09:38

I dont know that I'd be miffed exactly, but I agree it's a bit odd.

Dazedconfused · 04/04/2015 09:40

I didn't know an easter card was a thing. I wouldn't be bothered by this but I didn't know it was easter until my husband didn't go to work yesterday....mat leave has broken my brain

Doubtfuldaphne · 04/04/2015 09:42

I just find it a bit self obsessed. I had to vent.

OP posts:
TheFirstOfHerName · 04/04/2015 09:42

Perhaps it's an extension of those Christmas cards with a family photo on the front.

I'm all for the 'real meaning of Easter' but I'm not sure I'd want every Easter card to be a picture of an empty tomb.

Bowlersarm · 04/04/2015 09:44

I agree it is self obsessed. Although it wouldn't occur to me to send any type of Easter card to anyone anyway.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 04/04/2015 09:45

I wouldn't be miffed, what's to be miffed about?

Doubtfuldaphne · 04/04/2015 09:45

I wouldn't mind a chick, or an egg, or a roast dinner even. An empty tomb would be great! Grin

OP posts:
Doubtfuldaphne · 04/04/2015 09:47

Ok maybe not miffed but I find it odd. I wouldn't do it, I'd feel it was a bit like I was showing off or saying 'this person is what Easters all about!'

OP posts:
Roobo · 04/04/2015 09:48

It is a bit self-obsessed.

But... Easter= new life, so I can't get too mad about a picture of a new baby.

Doubtfuldaphne · 04/04/2015 09:50

She's 5 years old!

OP posts:
Roobo · 04/04/2015 09:52
Confused

Ok then, they're just nuts!

Happy Easter Easter Grin

whothehellknows · 04/04/2015 09:57

Aww, I've done that in the past with a picture of DDs in their Easter dresses and bonnets for the family. 'Twas cute!

IamGrimalkin · 04/04/2015 09:57

You're not being unreasonable in the slightest, op.

Seriouslyffs · 04/04/2015 09:58

Is it a little Easter themed though? Surely PFB is holding daffs, wearing Bunny ears, eating chocolate or nailed to a cross?

Dazedconfused · 04/04/2015 10:01

Grin nailed to a cross

Doubtfuldaphne · 04/04/2015 10:01

That would've helped. I desperately searched for maybe a daffodil in the background or a hint of an Easter egg on the floor ..but nothing. The picture could've been taken in winter for all I know. Not related in the slightest to Easter!

OP posts:
AliceLidlsWhiteChocolateRabbit · 04/04/2015 10:04

You'd love my BIL then OP.

The true meaning of Christmas is standing his children in front of his newly built pool or newly purchased car/boat.

They could at least make the effort of wearing a bad jumper or tatty paper hat from a cracker, even if the photo was taken in summer, but no, it's all swimming costumes and sunglasses.

I'm sure if I tell him he could do the same thing at easter he'd be all over easter cards as well.

GettingEggyWithIt · 04/04/2015 10:04

Unless you are a godparent or relative or 'auntie'or said child is dressed as a bunny or chick, tis a bit un-eastery but maybe it was a batch for the inlaws and lucky you got a spare one? Easter Confused

PunkrockerGirl · 04/04/2015 10:10

YANBU. I like Easter but can't see that having pictures of other people's children on the mantelpiece would in any way enhance the experience. Confused Very self obsessed imo.

AGirlCalledBoB · 04/04/2015 10:14

That is a bit weird if the child is not dressed up or has things related to Easter.

I must admit thou, I send a picture of DS dressed in his bunny outfit to family.

CornChips · 04/04/2015 10:23

One year I got for Christmas one of those photo calenders you do yourself from a colleague that featured her child on every page. I like my colleague... have never met her DS but am sure he is delightful and was very Hmm about it. I mean.... who wants someone else's kid on their wall for 12 months?
