9.23am. They've been drilling outside for the past hour. After having the hole in the street covered with their stupid barriers for the past 10 days, which have blown down every single day and covered the road, they decide to choose Easter weekend to do it!

I'm sure there's rules on what time they can start work. I'm so sleepy and grumpy.

I think I'm going to call them willies when I go out later. Or at least snarl at them.

Easter Hmm yeah they are real twats aren't they? working across easter, you'd think they would choose to be at home with their feet up. Selfish Bastards.

mindalina · 04/04/2015 09:36

lol at call them willies. poor op, maybe you'll get a chance for a nap this afternoon?

TokenGinger · 04/04/2015 09:40

BlueCanary... I know, right?! Swines Wink (I'm not sure how much my dress sense of humour comes across on here.)

Afternoon nap sounds like a nice treat! I think I'm just being grouchy as I have ongoing back problems, which makes it near impossible to lie down, and therefore sleeping is a treat, so after being woken up, I'm a bit of a grumpy bum Grin x

We had a market research phone call at 8.30am this morning. Bastards.
Fortunately dh answered the phone he's a much nicer person than me and politely told them we weren't interested!

There's never a good time of day for drilling.

I have twice had a bit of a rant.

One time they had dug right across the top of the main road near us. Where we live we have to use the main road to get anywhere at all and when one end is completely closed due to "emergency gas main repairs" (twice in six months, try doing a proper job???) it makes getting about a total faff. A ten minute drive turns into an hours massive detour.
That time I decided it would be less stressfull to walk than put up with the long drive. When I left there was a big hole and three men with yellow hats and clipboards looking into the hole.
When I came back three hours later the same three men were stood there looking into the same hole appearing to not have moved an inch.
I made some fatuous comment about the work progressing well.

Last year they decided to resurface the whole main road. OK it did need doing, but did they bother to let any of the residents nearby know when stuff would be happening? Of course not.
I leave the house one morning (with son in tow and 7 months pg at the time) to do my weekly shop and come back to barriers all over the place and no access to my road! Nobody about to move said barriers and I couldn't move them myself as they were heavy.
Have to park the car, leave small child in the car and go and find a workman to rant at. To be fair, he was quite appologetic and said that someone should have been minding the barrier. They appeared to be having some sort of extended tea break.

In essence, no YANBU but don't expect it will do any good.

I remember that thread where the OP shouted "Willy Willy Willy" at some workmen!

Hilarious Grin

If it makes you feel better OP, we have had a house being built next door for 15mths. It started when I was 39wks pregnant before a homebirth and they had had deliveries of heavy machinery at 03:30, worked on Sundays, finished at 8pm some days, there has been concreting at 7am, they have blocked our drive with vans etc on several occasions and have now put up a fence, contrary to plans, and planted a hedge on our side of the fence. Hmm. And they don't care.
Totally unhelpful, but nice to vent a bit.
It is blooming annoying, and I hope it stops soon for you OP. Best go shopping!

sparklepopsicles · 04/04/2015 09:58

Definitely bastards YANBU. My neighbour was mowing his lawn at 8 am this morning grrrr. What is wrong with people??

Crocodopolis · 04/04/2015 10:10

OP, not to worry: your sense of humour cross across fine. Your post made me laugh.

Here's hoping the building work is soon done.

Crocodopolis · 04/04/2015 10:10

Gah. I should have written "your sense of humour comes across fine". I blame not yet having coffee for my peculiar message.

TokenGinger · 04/04/2015 11:18

LOL at willy willy willy! I'm gonna try it.

Oh man, these stories are much worse than mine! I feel for you all :(

Neighbour mowing the lawn would be getting brownies laced with laxatives later on...

now, who do I feel sorry for the most _ OP, with her mid morning noise distrubance, or the workmen working over the bank holiday.

OP - take them some cream eggs. Grin

DarthVadersTailor · 04/04/2015 11:30

All depends on the local authority. In my one 09:30 is usually stipulated as a time to start.

TokenGinger · 04/04/2015 11:31

Aridane - YABU. Hehehehe!! X
