Freezer help. <dull and boring>

i have had my freeze since DH and I moved in together over 10 years, we had it off MIL who had it for 15 years.

I don't have a clue how many litres it is neither does MIL.

It needs replacing, because it's on its last legs. The seal is broken and hinges are snapped so I have a few breeze blocks on top.

Finally saved enough for a new one but have not got a clue how to order one.

How do I tell how big my current freezer is.

Can't you just measure the space with a tape measure and find out if a new one fits? As well as the litres, they should have the dimensions.

www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4871819.htm Example. See below the freezer for size, old freezer removal and so on.

Can't you go along to Currys and take a look at a few (that way you can physically judge the size) you don't have to purchase one there and then. Take the names of ones you do like, ask the store staff to recommend ones of a similar size to x,y,z, then go home and google until you find one to order for a good price.

I am not sensible when buying kitchen things.

I'm easily persuaded

That's why you commit yourself to not buying anything while you are shopping. It is simply research. Then you can do a pressure-free purchase by internet/telephone, once you have selected your freezer Grin

We brought a new one recently from ao.com. Search for discount codes aswell to get more money off. Look at things like the space you have available. We measured the space but didn't leave enough room for opening the door so you can't open the door fully which is a pain.

AuntieDee · 03/04/2015 23:55

We got this - I love that the freezer has pull out drawers rather than a door and then puu lout drawers. It's ace :)

Agree with going on a "research expedition".
Also set an absolute maximum budget you are prepared to pay and buy the best freezer you can for that budget. Do not be tempted by freezers which are a bit better and cost more than your budget - that way you will end up paying more than you can afford.
Also be very very skeptical about the warranties they try to sell you in currys and other stores.
