not my fault that DH s parents didnt get him an egg

DH has been complaining since Christmas to any adult who will listen that he is putting on weight and he has decided to stop eating chocolate.
However he doesn't really stick to this, he just says it when he is out and then when we get home he has chocolate for pudding and if there isn't any chocolate in the house he will mither and eventually go to the shop and buy himself some.

So we went to the ILs today and they had bought the DCs an Easter egg and a load of Easter gifts. They had also bought me an Easter egg but they had bought DH a car washing kit because he had told them that he was giving it up and he didn't want any.

Since we got home he has been complaining saying that it was my fault because I should have told his parents that he would still want one.

He has just gone to the shop to by himself a replacement egg" because the only time anyone has taken him seriously was the time he didn't want them too"

Even if it's something religious, a vow of poverty or humility seems equally appropriate for him, then.

LunaMay · 04/04/2015 02:33

Haha ohh as someone who's also giving up chocolate (but really) I feel for him. My sisters both 20+ have put their orders in of the big kinder eggs from mum. Part of me is hoping she gets me a little one at least but she keeps going on about how proud she is of me being healthier that I'll probably get nothing and will have to fantasise sneaking to the shop and get some mnm mini eggs to drown my sorrow.

petpuddle · 04/04/2015 08:26

We can't get rid of the chocolate because I would have to stop eating it as well and we are a house full of chocolate lovers Easter Shock

Yes he managed to act happy and grateful in front of his parents .

It isn't easter yet

Dowser · 04/04/2015 09:25

We don't buy each other eggs ( hmmm I wonder why not! We mark every other anniversa Ryan/ occasion)

Maybe it's because I'm always meant to be on a diet.
Anyway while we were away he had popped to lidl for some food supplies and when I came out of the bathroom....there was a giant dark chocolate toblerone bar on the bed .

I thought that was a lovely gesture.

( he also had bought me something for my cough)

letscookbreakfast · 04/04/2015 09:29

You're never too old for easter eggs, me and my partner get them from family members and we are approaching thirty!

Dowser · 04/04/2015 09:38

I have images of a faced man wandering around town seeking out eggs.

It's funny. The picture I see in my mind is jack Nicholson in the shining. Here's johnny!

Man on a mission and scared shoppers leaping out of the way and the manager of Tescos stuffing armfuls of chocolate eggs into his arms.

Then when he's eaten his fill he's led away one sad, sorry chocolatey mess for psychiatric treatment.

His distraught parents watching with coats over their jamas, looking grey sad and very wrinkly and hid dad saying ' Ethel, I knew we should have got him that train set at Christmas . Not einsteins ' theory of relativity' it's your fault woman!

Nelly2015 · 04/04/2015 09:51

Your never to old for an Easter egg

maras2 · 04/04/2015 10:02

They bought him a car washing thingy? Since when did Easter become a present giving time for adults? Eggs given to kids ok.Car washing kits to adults, just plain weird.Adults whining about not receiving eggs, just batshit. Easter Shock

BucketFullOfDinosaurs · 04/04/2015 10:12

I would have giggled at him going out to buy an egg and then been rolling on the floor laughing when he skulked back without one Grin

Do let us know what he ends up with!

Evabeaversprotege · 04/04/2015 10:28

I told dh not to buy me an egg as I'm on a diet.

He bought me a giant Lindt sweet filled with sweets!! Seriously, probably way more calorific than a buttons Easter egg!!

butterfly2015 · 04/04/2015 10:35

Place marking. I need to know what egg he gets.

If his is bigger than yours op, you need to throw a strip and go out and buy yourself another one.

This could go on for a while.

MadgeFinn · 04/04/2015 11:36

Place marking, I started reading this thread last night in bed when I couldn't sleep, I actually disturbed sleeping DH when I did a kind of choking noise.
Brilliant. Grin

I bet you're so attracted to him while he carries on like this Easter Grin grown men who behave like spoilt brats are such a turn on after all Easter Hmm

MadgeFinn · 04/04/2015 12:22

I thought that actually, not exactly manly behaviour is it.

LittleBearPad · 04/04/2015 12:24

Has he hunted and gathered his egg yet?

Rightokthen · 04/04/2015 12:48

I find this funny also

MishMooshAndMogwai · 04/04/2015 12:53

If dp did this Id lose a massive amount of respect for him for behaving like an absolute penis. Though i suppose he has form....

Is be questioning my relationship if I genuknely had to hide my Easter eggs in fear of him eating them too.

What. A. Twat.

TelephoneEggGnawingMachine · 04/04/2015 12:56

That's hilarious! Although, if he expected you to tell his parents that he actually wanted an egg, did he tell you that this is what you were supposed to do? If not, then HIBU. You're not psychic. And neither are they!

petpuddle · 04/04/2015 18:52

The voyager has returned
He strode into the living room grinning with a giant Cadbury Carmel one which was apparently the only big one they had left in Sainsburys.
He has even moved all my stuff off the mantle piece and put the egg there so he knows where it is.

I keep threatening to eat it while he sleeps Easter Grin
He isn't 100% sure if I am serious or not.

BucketFullOfDinosaurs · 04/04/2015 19:33

Hurrah! So much love for this mental image - a giant shrine for an Easter egg!

TelephoneEggGnawingMachine · 04/04/2015 19:41
Grin

The wanderer returns, triumphant, with his magnificent bounty of... an overpriced hollow piece of chocolate. Sexy.

PureMorning · 04/04/2015 19:46

Carefully open box
Remove foil from egg
Put foil carefully back in box
Hide egg
Wait for the screams tomorrow

I did this to my sister's one year after they teased me about my braces.

butterfly2015 · 04/04/2015 19:52

Cry. And tell him it's not fair he has a bigger egg. Demand another egg. Cry some more.
