Last nite on the debate NF was talking about the freedoms of movement and basically saying when it was us
France, Nordic countries and Italy possibly Spain bevause we have partorty in living standards, laws , pay and and justice system is not the same but up to starch so to speak it worked the moment very poor countires were let in that had often very corrupt and in stable governments and very diffrents standards of living it all went a bit Pete tong

Usually I think NF speaks utter droll but on this point I think he may be right I know we can all move around which is nice but I did wonder how many Brits and though I know I really need to move to romaina for example or have moved to Poland

If we're talking about minimum wage jobs, then let's talk about them. From what I've seen of kitchen cleaning, shop work and childcare work, outside London, the staff are local and English. Some of the supervisors and chefs are not.

Vegetable and fruit picking on a large scale may employ non English workers. But, I can't tell from where I live, because those types of farms aren't here. Abattoir work isn't available here. But, that would be another interesting one. I've just looked up one that I used to know in Linton, Cambridgeshire, years ago, to enquire about its workforce, just to discover that it has closed. Of course, rising staff costs are not a good thing for businesses. I wonder if Nigel Farage has considered that!

What TurnItIn said.

NF means National Front to me.
So it took me a moment to realise you meant Nigel Farage.

Which really is the same meaning isn't it?

Not everyone posting on this site has the same level of education and people have disabilities in various forms. No need to be nasty if you don't understand the op ask questions to clarify.

I wondered at the time why there was such a rush to allow Eastern European countries to join the EU. There were some interim arrangements to ease them in, of course (such as the delayed free movement of labour, if I'm remembering that right?), but the expansion was still very rapid and the outcome was undeniably a bit unwieldy. I thought it would have been sensible to set up a kind of associate membership unit for those countries, with preferential trading but not full membership until they completely fulfilled the conditions for integration. However, when I started referring to this in my mind as the Eastern Bloc I realised why this would have been politically... undesirable. I can imagine the USA for a start getting a little excited about it. One might do well to think back to why the EU was created in the first place - it certainly wasn't just about trade.

These are the kind of wider considerations that don't really occur to your Farages and Griffins.

Nah, hes still a twat.
What I dont get is that the immigrants get the blame for driving down wages but isnt it actually the fault of the exploitative (usually right of centre) business owners not paying their employees a fair (ie living) wage that is the problem? Why arent they the bad guys?

(Caveat - I also know plenty of businesses who treat their employees well and use good practice in employee relation)

I and many people I know agree with Nig on many issues, but we will not be voting for him,
