We are away in the Canaries and our hotel has a small water park attached. The play music, not blaring but you can hear it.
The just played uncensored version of Kanye West Gold digger. Complete with the n word and fucking!Shock
I can't believe it. I'm no prude but AIBU to think this is a bit out of order. I'm going to mention it to reception. Gobsmacked tbh, I've never heard the full thing before.

Definitely worth mentioning to the rep. They probably played it without realising the language it contained.

MarwoodsMate · 31/03/2015 12:49

You are not in an English speaking country. Hate being told to "chill out", but I suggest you chill out a bit tbh.

MarwoodsMate · 31/03/2015 12:50

Oh sorry just saw the n word part OP. Not ok. Complain to rep.

123Jump · 31/03/2015 12:51

All the staff have very good English and there are loads of English speakers here.
Surely a censored version is preferable?

I think you should relax, forget it, and enjoy your holiday.

MarwoodsMate · 31/03/2015 13:01

Meh I've lived abroad and found out that many popular songs in English have uncensored versions. It never bothered me. The n word bothers me though.

123Jump · 31/03/2015 13:05

Obviously all censored songs have an uncensored version. I don't care if I hear it, I can deal with it. Not so keen on the fact that all the kids can hear it too...
But I can see majority says IABU, so I shall relax into my lounger and forget it.

I can't say i didn't laugh quite a lot last year when in a resort in Egypt where a bunch of elderly ladies were all studiously doing water aerobics to uncensored Eminem - i think its something you just have to accept in another country really.

hopefully it just all becomes part of the background noise for kids

Mistigri · 31/03/2015 14:01

This happens all the time in Europe where most people don't speak English. I've heard explicit versions being played at school events in France. I think you just have to accept that us foreigners have different standards ;)

Hissy · 31/03/2015 14:03

definitely complain. it's not family listening

MamaLazarou · 31/03/2015 14:04

This happened to us once in Corfu! The song being (loudly) played at a water park contained, among other explicit lyrics, 'You f*ing me makes me bilingual'. Hmm

I was pregnant with our first DC at the time but I definitely would have complained if I had been the parent of one of the children present.

MamaLazarou · 31/03/2015 14:05

(Googling reveals the song to be 'Bilingual' by Jose Nunez, in case any of you fancy a laugh)

123Jump · 31/03/2015 15:04

Just out of interest don't other European countries have the notifications on songs that contain explicit lyrics as we do? If so surely the people buying the lyrics notice it?

I was quite surprised a couple of years ago to see the full, explicit video to Blurred Lines on French tv at 8 in the morning! I think they are just more liberal in other countries.
I'd be annoyed about that too though.

Gottagetmoving · 31/03/2015 15:10

I wouldn't have noticed. I can't make out the words in that or most other songs. They are just tunes to me.

I wouldn't worry. I heard Eminem effing and jeffing in a French McDonalds not so long ago.
