DS spills milk on (fairly new) carpet whilst sitting next to DP.
DP rubs said milk into the carpet with his fingers.
I say, "what are you doing? Use a cloth or a wipe "
DP eye rolls.

I find this so fucking dismissive.

Right, and this is crucial to the question, how much milk?

FoxInSocksWhat · 29/03/2015 18:19

I would want it to be wiped up properly, milk smells if it isn't.

Pyjamasandwine · 29/03/2015 18:19

Milk stinks in a carpet and heeds wiping out. He's a lazy arse.

solidarityplease · 29/03/2015 18:20

About a mouthful.

OP posts:
MisterDobalina · 29/03/2015 18:20

I would be annoyed.

IAmAShitHotLawyer · 29/03/2015 18:20

what colour is the carpet and how much was spilt

PeachyPants · 29/03/2015 18:21

If it was loads of milk I can see your point if it was a little spill TBH I'd have done what your DP did Blush. Presuming you live together and it's his carpet too then I think you just have different standards. Was your tone quite brusque? If so I'd say ask nicely and you'd be less likely to get an eye roll back.

TheWintersmith · 29/03/2015 18:22

Water - ok to rub it in

Milk -absolutley NOT ok to rub in. It will stink in a day or two

solidarityplease · 29/03/2015 18:22

Exactly. It might just be me, but I can't stand eye rolling. Its another way of saying: "Here she goes again " as far as I'm concerned.

lostincumbria · 29/03/2015 18:23

Oh the stench. Milk spills need cleaning.

DioneTheDiabolist · 29/03/2015 18:28

YADNBU OP, milk stinks if it isn't washed out properly.

Milk : will stink the carpet, needs to be 'lifted' out with wet cloth/towel.

Eye roll: Yes, fucking dismissive. My back would be up to the ceiling.

HolgerDanske · 29/03/2015 18:31

Eww no, you don't just rub it in!! You get a wet cloth with a little dab of cleaner on it and wash it so you don't get sour milk stink!

And yes, the eye roll is rude and dismissive.

EponasWildDaughter · 29/03/2015 18:33

Ah, a mouthful is lots. Milk does pong.

I think YANBU to feel the eye roll was dismissive. I would pick a moment later, when DCs are in bed and you are calm, and bring the subject up with him. The eye rolling, not the milk.

I know it's not the end of the world or anything, just bugged me that a grown man would find this an acceptable way to 'clean' something up.

Then I get the eye roll for having a problem with it. Confused

Discopanda · 29/03/2015 19:15

YANBU, it's just one of those things that blokes don't really think about

FryOneFatManic · 29/03/2015 19:23

I had just a tiny bit of milk spill in the boot of the car. Probably less than a mouthful, and it stank to high heaven. It really does need to be cleaned out your carpet.

minkGrundy · 29/03/2015 19:29

Tell your dp that you have made him an appt with the gp as you are worried about his apparent loss of sense of smell coupled with an inability to control his eye movements and you think it might indicate an underlying condition.

The alternative is that he is not ill, just lazy, rude and lacking in basic common sense.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 29/03/2015 19:33

LTB.

Couldn't resist, sorry Grin

Seriously, what a twat. I would be very upset if DH rolled his eyes at me especially for something so obviously needing doing.
