mehitabel- - you have so little regard for the intelligence of your child that you think they would believe it?

I too like binkybox believed the Noah's ark story. Why wouldn't I? It was taught to me at Sunday school and school alongside all the other bible stories such as the good samaritan, the cucifixion, the garden of Eden, that nativity.
I believed the Noah's ark story was true- it was no more ludicrous than having dead people walk, or talking snakes.

My DD was told the Noah's ark story at school when she was 6. Again she though it was historical fact. I gently challenged the idea but she said that of course it was true because it came from the bible.
And the bible wouldn't lie, and neither would her teacher.
I have grown members of my family who believe tha Noah's ark story is true, so I think you are being a little simplistic in suggesting that young children can navigate themselves through this swampy mess.

meh no I didn't believe fairy stories. Do you know why? Because they weren't taught as fact!

Exactly the point I've been trying to make - sometimes beliefs do need challenging for exactly this sort of reason, and to me that's not rude.

To be fair, you don't seem the type to enforce your views on others and you admit it's just faith with no evidence. So I'm sure in real life none of this would ever come up with us.

What I find frustrating though, is that you seek to shut down this challenge under the banner of 'rude' and I really think that is wrong.
