to feel that a "hello kitty" aircraft is not as reassuring as a blue and red ribbon?

I flew out of Taipei yesterday on the national carrier- Eva Air. This is what people were expected to travel on, an aircraft branded with Hello Kitty FFS. It did not make me feel safe, what is that their intention do you think? How on earth did a marketing department come up with this awful idea? There is a whole magazine devoted to HK goods on board. it beggars belief.

Omg! I love it!!!

DelGirl · 28/03/2015 06:50

Ffs is nothing safe from HK

JeanSeberg · 28/03/2015 06:50

How does it affect safety in any way? I think it looks great. Lighten up.

Longdistance · 28/03/2015 06:58

Ooo, Hello shitty kitty on a plane. Seen it all now.

Yeah, stick with blue and red ribbon, much classier safer

themummyonthebus · 28/03/2015 07:23

It's just co-branding. It's not like there's a Hello Kitty mascot at the controls Confused Hmm Why would it have any impact on safety?

Minus2seventy3 · 28/03/2015 07:39

YABU.
Eva Air ranks higher than BA in 2014's safety records. www.jacdec.de/safety-ranking-2014/
HTH
And wtf is wrong with Hello Kitty?

Cherriesandapples · 28/03/2015 07:42

You are in Asia. Their relationship with Hello Kitty is culturally different. If I had frightened children and they saw Hello Kitty on the plane they would feel better I'm sure.

Plateofcrumbs · 28/03/2015 07:45

I would love to fly on a Hello Kitty plane! YABU.

frankie001 · 28/03/2015 08:07

I would love to travel on that plane!

mrsfuzzy · 28/03/2015 08:11

fun idea, i love it !

VivaLeBeaver · 28/03/2015 08:11

Ah yes, it's well known that Hello Kitty on the side of a plane affects the aerodynamics and also means the engineers don't bother with the routine maintence schedule. Hmm

LittleBearPad · 28/03/2015 08:13

DD would adore that

nooyearnooname · 28/03/2015 08:13

I wanna go on the Hello Kitty plane!!

orangefusion · 28/03/2015 15:47

Tweeness is neither endearing nor comforting to me. I just can't see BA plastering Peppa Pig all over one of its 380s.

Eeee! I love it!

UnderEstherMate · 28/03/2015 16:01

DD would LOVE this.

DelGirl · 28/03/2015 16:01

Where I live you can't get away from HK
No kidding, everything you could possibly need for a kitchen as well as the rest of the home. Who buys this stuff?

DelGirl · 28/03/2015 16:04

www.ebay.com/bhp/hello-kitty-kitchen just why?

justonemoretime2p · 28/03/2015 16:10

Yabu

weeblueberry · 28/03/2015 16:12

Virgin have ladies in swimsuits on the sides of theirs don't they?

TheMoa · 28/03/2015 16:15

I love their little matching cart Grin

A Pokemon plane would be fun too, or Super Mario, accompanied by a mushroom cart!

slightlyglitterstained · 28/03/2015 16:16

I'd love to see Hello Kitty or Peppa Pig on a plane.

I don't think YABU to not find tweeness endearing, but you are being very unreasonable to think that it should be somehow less trustworthy.

PilchardPrincess · 28/03/2015 16:21

YABU and baffling

Having a picture of hello kitty on the side of the plane will not compromise safety. That suggestion is quite quite bonkers.

Hello Kitty is big in some parts of Asia, some of my colleagues in offices in the countries we work in have have Hello Kitty and similar stationary items, it's a different culture and they look at it differently, this stuff isn't seen as just for children.

So really on the whole I think you are being a bit weird and intolerant personally.

CheshireCait · 28/03/2015 16:21

I absolutely love it. I really like the Disneyland ones I've seen as well, with the castle and characters on them. But I don't think I'm a proper grownup.

I do, however, have the sense to know that a Hello Kitty plane is no more or less likely to crash than a more boringly-liveried version.
