To ask what plans you have with your DC this easter holiday?

We have a holiday booked one week, and ive taken a week off work to spend with DS, and currently trying to decide on ideas! We will be half in London, half in the countryside..

My DS has been very tired and sickly this half term (reception) so part of me thinks he should be doing more home based activities to build him back up, but the other half of me wants to seize the day and relish this rare time off we have together in big days out!

What are your plans with your DC this easter holiday?

As little as possible. DD is full time at school nursery and finds it utterly exhausting. I've no interest in taking her to crowded places. We're planning to meet up with a group of friends but that will probably just be a day at a park and a picnic or something.

Bonsoir · 26/03/2015 20:07

We are going to a favourite hotel in Burgundy for the Easter weekend. There are dogs, cats, horses, ducks, a pool and spa and a huge garden in which to have an egg hunt. We can go bike riding along the canal.

DD is going to spend a fortnight at a horse riding camp on a farm during her school holidays. She can't wait!

HerRoyalNotness · 26/03/2015 20:12

The DC only get 1 day off school here (US) and we don't get the day off work! We'll take Friday off anyway for a long weekend, and are going camping about 3hrs away. The DSs are beyond excited. Fishing is their main "want to do" on this little jaunt.

I've been busy pinning recipes to make the meals easier, and something they'll actually eat for a change.

minionmadness · 26/03/2015 21:24

We are visiting family in London combined with a trip to LEGOLAND for the second week.

The first week the dc have a couple of days at sports camp (which they love) and a few days pottering about at home. Maybe some swimming, bowling etc.

MinceSpy · 26/03/2015 21:40

DH & I have taken some time off and the Minces are going to New York.

kinkyfuckery · 26/03/2015 21:42

Nothing much at all. DD2 has "Dance camp" the first week Mon-Thurs 10am-3pm so I will just be mooching around with DD1, she'll probably have her head stuck in a screen of some sort.

They are with their dad the second week.

We'll likely throw in a trip to the cinema/McDs and I bought a discount family ticket for ice skating so we'll probably do that too.

minibmw2010 · 26/03/2015 21:42

DH and I are taking DS (almost 4) to ThomasLand and staying overnight in one of the Thomas bedrooms Grin DS is mad about Thomas so hoping it'll be a lot of fun ??

thenextday · 26/03/2015 21:45

Mine are teenagers. So I have two weeks to myself..they do their own thing.
Bliss. Galleries, theatre, reading.

ARoomWithoutAView · 26/03/2015 21:47

Going to Iceland...!!
Yipppeeee!

ARoomWithoutAView · 26/03/2015 21:48

To get some.....frozen pizza, steaks, sausages, for a big family party on Easter Saturday. Egg Hunt on Sunday.

manicinsomniac · 26/03/2015 21:48

I'm a teacher and we're all at a private school so coming to the end of week 1 of 3 already!

Children have still had their normal activities this week and I've been working in school while they play in the grounds/hall/ict room.

Next week we'll take a few trips to London to do dance classes, go to the theatre and go round the markets. Then heading up to the lake district to see my mum and bring her down south to the rest of the family for Easter Monday egg hunt extravaganza. Will do some hiking while we're there.

Last week will be a couple more visits to
London, last minute homework for oldest child and work for me, hopefully meet up with some local friends.

And before I know it we'll be back to normal!

Happypiglet · 26/03/2015 21:51

If you are in London there is a Shaun the Sheep trail. Lots of large models if Shaun decorated in different ways by artists etc (bit like the book bench trail last summer) there are four different trails in different parts of
London. We are going to do that one day.

lertgush · 26/03/2015 22:13

Our schools don't get an Easter holiday, nor are Good Friday or Easter Monday public holidays here.

So... we'll be at school...

mamababa · 26/03/2015 22:19

Ooh the Shaun the Sheep thing sounds good, we have a week down in the South and am planning a bus tour of London (DC have never been) and then lego.

PP who mentioned Thomasland - it's fab you'll have a blast especially if your DS likes rides!! The Ben 10 roller coaster is pretty good ( even coming from an adult who loves Roller coasters!)

The queues for the Winston ride are loooong and it's not great

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 26/03/2015 22:21

Working :(

Ijustworemytrenchcoat · 26/03/2015 22:30

Aww he is still so little. Enjoy the holiday then on your week off stay close to home, lots of quiet time and cuddles.

ChillySundays · 26/03/2015 22:37

One at work and one at college so they don't need me anymore.

i would say that if your DS isn't feeling himself then the holiday might be enough. Don't get too fixated by having to constantly be doing things. He might want to spend sometime slobbing. Play it by ear.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 26/03/2015 22:40

shipping them off to their nan's house as I'll be in hospital having the their little sister.

I'll probably be very much more upset at leaving them than they will be at being left.

WyrdByrd · 26/03/2015 22:54

The only thing we have planned so far is seeing DD's best friend on both Wednesdays. They met at nursery but go to different schools so we only see them in the hols. We (me, DD, bf & her mum & brother) are going to see Cinderella next week then bf is coming back to ours for a sleepover & I'm doing them a surprise Cinderella themed afternoon tea - they're going on 11 so hopefully won't think it's too babyish! The following Weds we're going to theirs for the day.

Will probably see her other 'out of school' friend & his mum at some point & also need to fit in a visit to my Auntie.

She will probably have a sleepover with my parents at some point over Easter weekend as it's our anniversary.

We're also going out with my mum tomorrow night to see Pascha from Strictly's show, and DD's off with DH & MIL to see 'Harvey' on Saturday.

Hmm, busier than I thought!

Rockingrobin69 · 27/03/2015 08:44

Thanks for all the responses, its great to know what people are up to, My ds has been up all night with ear ache so I'm not sure how much we will actually be doing!

I am very exciting that we are off to Hobart for the long weekend. its been a long time since we visited Tasmania and the first time for my daughter, so she is doubly excited.

I am thrilled to be having several days off work in one go!

missymayhemsmum · 27/03/2015 18:56

Nothing much, and really looking forward to it. Almost every weekend for months has been spent on the M4 supporting the aged parents, and dd has been struggling with it. I shall tame the garden. DD will have her friends over to play in said garden (if I can detach her from her planned cbbc marathon). She might even get to play with some of her bedroom full of toys. Visit friends, go for a bike ride, play in the park. Go swimming maybe. Talk to student son who is coming home for a few days. Slob out and talk to the cat.

TheWordFactory · 27/03/2015 18:59

DD is going on a DofE expedition. Then DS goes on one. Then DD goes on another. In between they will revise for GCSEs

I shall be helpnig to pack ruck sacks, emptying said ruck sacks, washing muddy socks, making revision comfort food, testing revisers, mopping up tears etc...

Deep joy.
