To want my boy to keep his long locks

My son is 5 has longish shaggy blond hair. I love it, he doesn't.
He's off to the hairdressers I usually just get him a trim but he really wants to cut it all off. Should I let him be responsible for his own wee head or do I push what I want (and be a selfish bitch)?

Argh I can't get through to the hairdresser rubs hands with glee

To be fair, DS only said he wanted it really short as a passing comment. He's in a world of his own and probably wouldn't care if he came out with it died green with blue spots. He's only in it for the packet of Haribo the hairdresser gives him when he's done Grin

Tis done and he looks gorgeous but a lot more grown. He got told to tell our hairdresser to do whatever he wanted and its not too much just a short shaggy do.

They do look suddenly very grown up when the baby hair gets cut, don't they? I bet he looks handsome as anything.

Smile When DS gets shorn I always get a mild shock when I see his usually hidden and quite pointy eyebrows. Yy to the tiny head as well.

When dressed, the most obvious difference between boys and girls is their hair. Why would you want everybody assuming your long-haired boy is a girl? Most girls now have long hair and you'd be thought odd if your small daughter had her head shaved.
I know two little boys with shoulder length hair and they are already getting teased.

Both my teenage DSs have hair half-way down their backs and to be honest I'd be happy to chop the lot as it bungs up the hoover no end! However they like it like that so it stays ... They do get comments but they're both pretty quick with the retaliatory snark so they don't care.

If your lad wants it short let him have ir short - it is his hair, after all! Grin
