Absolutely blazing! Although I need to calm down. It is just hair after all!

Nursery didn't tell me. I discovered it this morning brushing her hair to put it up. Luckily it's a chunk underneath.

She is only just two. What the hell are 2 yr olds doing unsupervised with scissors?! Surely for art purposes, you would have them all sat down at that age, fully supervised, maybe 1 adult to say 4 kids?!

My DD did this to her friend then, realising she would get into trouble, tried to glue it back on! Shock

Several of my parents have been primary school teachers and they all had a horror story to tell regarding scissors and hair. At the moment, a little boy in her class is happily snipping holes in her jumper and pinafore whenever he gets chance.

It is very easy to do with safety scissors. You know those rubbish plastic ones that couldn't cut butter? Well, they cut hair very efficiently!

I did this to myself when i was about 5, took a massive handful off right beside my face about a week before the yearly school photos - I still remember the glorious SCRRRRRUNCHHH of it. Totally worth it :D

DD gave herself a mullet once, aged about 3. She came over and handed me a handful of hair, said "There you go!" and wandered off. I have no idea where she found the scissors (which were child friendly "safety" ones).

I wonder if there is a child anywhere who has access to scissors and hasn't cut a chunk out of their own or someone else's hair.

SoupDragon tbh it had never crossed my mind to hide her nail scissors Blush which were the chosen object to hack a chunk off with. I did the same when I was 6 with kitchen scissors because I was a bit fat and thought it'd make me lose weight Hmm

Gileswithachainsaw · 26/03/2015 14:10

mine did this Grin

she ran off with the scissors to do it so she knew bloody well she shouldn't Hmm

was just grateful it was her own hair not someone else's. I burst out laughing on the phone when they called me Blush

Definitely a rite of passage!

But she is only just 2. Not 3 or 4! Really didn't think it would happen at this age.

She can't use scissors, so fairly sure she didn't do it herself!

DDs mullet at 3 wasn't her first hair cut, just the most dramatic!

catabouttown · 26/03/2015 14:43

DD2s first haircut was when she was 9 months, through the bars of her cot, by DD1. Also using the plastic safety scissors that take an age to cut paper but can apparently cut hair no problem. The first I knew was when I heard DD1 shouting 'mummy, DD2 won't let me play hairdressers'
