Providing it is meant as a joke? And obviously would not be intended to cause offence even though it would?

After listening to him "explain" today that racist jokes (after telling several) are not offensive if they are meant in jest and that anyone who doesn't get that is too stupid to see past the racism to see the humour.

I won't post specifically what was said as quite frankly it disgusted me enough to hear it the first time.

So would the above be unreasonable? Or maybe I should just high five him... In the face... With a brick? Y'know providing that it was meant as a joke!

Don't sink to his level, go to HR

It was hypothetical I'm not actually planning on it. Was just an example of a different scenario of what he seems to think is acceptable behaviour.

He is the owner of the company (part owner) the other owner was their and agreed with him so there is nobody to actually complain to. Apart from Mumsnet Grin

Do you have a union or similar? Citizens Advice Bureau might also be able to help. At the very least, take notes so you have evidence if it ever degenerates to discrimination.

No, no Union unfortunately.
