It's at the exact head height of my 8 year old who I managed to distract in time. Interested to know what you think...
[hope I've managed to attach the photo!]

I am less than impressed and would have commented.

Pantone363 · 23/03/2015 10:20

Meh

There's always graffiti in the park/subways/toilets.

"It's for adults" and move on

differentnameforthis · 23/03/2015 10:26

Hmmm, supermarkets won't have choc at the checkouts, yet other places can display these at child height?

Not appropriate, and I am not usually one to worry about what is on sale where.

fredfredgeorgejnr · 23/03/2015 11:01

What happens in the soup aisle?

SockQueen · 23/03/2015 11:26

Our branch of Scribbler has a sign on the door saying something like "Many items in this shop contain adult humour and may be unsuitable for young children." Having been in there a few times, I just wouldn't take kids in there.

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 23/03/2015 11:27

Our local Scribbler shop has a warning sign on the window saying that some of its products may be considered offensive - I wouldn't take a child in there even though I find a lot of their stock amusing.

differentnameforthis · 23/03/2015 11:44

"Many items in this shop contain adult humour and may be unsuitable for young children."

I take it back then, at least they are warning people!

ilovevenice · 23/03/2015 12:14

Hmmm - will have a look for a warning next time I'm going past. I agree it's different if there's a notice but I obviously missed it. I wasn't horrified or anything - we live in London and I agree with Pantone that it's everywhere. But it was just the positioning/height and the particularly stark design/message!

I have no idea if every branch has this, and if there wasn't a sign then I think YANBU to find it all a bit inappropriate for a kid (there are lots of cards with swear words/sexual references on them too).

I wouldn't take a child in any branch of Scribbler regardless of signage, because I know the sort of stuff they sell, but they can't expect all their customers to know this!

Radiatorvalves · 23/03/2015 13:19

I've stopped going in there full stop. I've seen the sign, but tbh, I don't find that sort of humour particularly amusing. I wouldn't fancy explaining stuff to 8&10 yo DSs.

Theas18 · 23/03/2015 13:48

Male chickens dear , male chickens

Number3cometome · 23/03/2015 13:59

Cock soup anyone?

MNpostingbot · 23/03/2015 18:43

Yeah, YABU.

Difficult if the first time in scribble and you thought it was a clintons type place, but as above "it's for adults" and move along

If you've been in a scribble before then you'd know that there is bound to be something in there that could offend, it's the nature of the place.

I think its great, their "it's better to have loved and lost than live with a psychotic £&@": for the rest of your life" is one of the best cards I've seen

TiggyD · 23/03/2015 19:17

Many people do love cocks. Where else do you suggest they buy their "I love cock" fridge magnets?

You're like being racist against people who love cocks.

ilovevenice · 24/03/2015 01:53

Nothing against cocks - promise!
I must admit I hadn't been there for ages and had forgotten all about the adult humour thing. Also not sure DS would have been satisfied with the "it's for adults" line - he tends to come straight back with another question! Luckily no problem this time but I suppose I just don't see the difficulty in putting this kind of thing on a higher shelf...
