to expect DP to feed the baby during England-France? (light hearted) Any tips for male training?

Exactly that. He has just looked at me as though I were a loon for asking but it is his turn (I did the 6am, 10.30am and 2.30pm feeds, no night feed as DD is a peach). Am I expecting too much for a bit of multi-tasking?! I unload the dishwasher whilst making up bottles whilst changing a nappy whilst running his ice bucket (broken ankle - football injury) whilst making lunch whilst doing the online shop yet DP is a strictly one task at a time merchant. Any tips on training one's chimp other half? Or at least share a war story that proves that I'm not the only mug?

erm try not being so sexist?

hand him baby and the bottle and leave him to it

but he isn't a chimp or a dog that needs training and you are not a martyr

Confused

What ghostly said except make sure he makes the feeds up to - perhaps not at the moment with limited mobility but when he's up and about again no excuses.

My father (so I am told) made up feeds and he was blind. Did everything except change nappies which my DM thought might be unsafe.

My DP is feeding the baby while watching the rugby. I just glanced over and realised the milk was running out of the other side of the baby's mouth because the pair of them are BOTH staring at the game, mouths agape!

lauralouise8 · 21/03/2015 19:35

Yes Starling, it was definitely a mouths agape game! Yep, handed him the bottle and he got on with it. I'm interested in people's division of labour in the home though. I'm on maternity leave at the moment and have sort of ended up taking most of the chores on because I'm there. Slightly kicking myself as I think I've created a rod for my own back. We need to be more equal otherwise it will be unbearable when I go back to work.

YABVVU .... but only because we allow all and any children of the house to run wild on the final day of the Six Nations. GrinWink

Actually rugby watching is often quite good for baby feeding/cuddling duties. Except when you are married to a Kiwi and you make the beginners mistake of handing him a sleeping baby during the World Cup final

Theoretician · 21/03/2015 19:42

The baby is very unreasonable for wanting feeding during the England-France game.

Can people stop being so mean to OP. She was just trying to make a joke

Artesia · 21/03/2015 20:19

Fair enough limited, but just switch it round and imagine the response if a man asked for (lighthearted) advice about training his wife.....
