Just avoid the homepage.

I have active saved as a favourite so I bypass home and come straight to talk.

Writerwannabe83 · 21/03/2015 16:26

I don't even understand what it's supposed to be? Is it making a joke of some sort?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 21/03/2015 16:27

I come straight to Talk but have just had a nosey at it, what's that all about eh?

Mintyy · 21/03/2015 16:29

Well, I could just avoid the home page squeezy but that's not really the point.

OP posts:
AlPacinosHooHaa · 21/03/2015 16:30

I agree its horrid.

UghReally · 21/03/2015 16:36

I think its just a badly thought out joke

DoJo · 21/03/2015 16:36

Why do you hate it?

TheFecklessFairy · 21/03/2015 16:38

Ah, but is it 'gender neutral' enough for most MNers Grin ?

Mintyy · 21/03/2015 16:38

I think its a bit porny tbh. It's not really necessary, the thread could easily be represented by a different (perhaps real, not posed) image.

OP posts:
ChazzerChaser · 21/03/2015 16:39

I don't like it either. It perpetuating an inaccurate and intimidating idea of childbirth.

TheFecklessFairy · 21/03/2015 16:39

I think its a bit porny tbh

No partner of mine has EVER donned cap and gloves to look at my fanny! What's 'porny' about it?

MrsCakesPrecognitionisSwitched · 21/03/2015 16:40

It would be better with a female midwife shining her torch (most MWs seem to keep a torch about their person) for a better look.

TheFecklessFairy · 21/03/2015 16:42

It would be better with a female midwife

I defy anyone to say whether the person doing the peering is male or female!!

Having a female midwife just perpetuates that it is a 'female' job - I thought on MN we taught gender neutrality from the age of 2 weeks??

wreckingball · 21/03/2015 16:43

I don't like it and I don't like the caption either saying '' Yes, but what about the Haddock?''.
Why's that funny? Confused

MrsCakesPrecognitionisSwitched · 21/03/2015 16:50

It is a link to a thread of anecdotes about funny things that happen in childbirth. One MNer (under the influence of pain relief) was very worried about the haddock she had left at home.
And there are far more stories on the thread talking about female midwives than male ones.
It should probably have been the male cleaner doing the peering as that accurately reflects one of the anecdotes.

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 21/03/2015 16:50

Female genitals = fishy. Oh how hilair Hmm

MarshaBrady · 21/03/2015 16:51

It's awful. And the line with it is too.

AlPacinosHooHaa · 21/03/2015 16:52

Yes, the what about the Haddock I thought some ref to womens parts.

AlPacinosHooHaa · 21/03/2015 16:53

  • TheFecklessFairy Sat 21-Mar-15 16:39:36 Grin this made me LOL.

I dislike it for all reasons I dislike Amercian films and their portrayal of CB.

Justforthisenquiry · 21/03/2015 16:53

It's tasteless but I find the MN homepage is frequently has annoying/unpleasant images these days.

nicenewdusters · 21/03/2015 16:55

I didn't like it either. Not really sure why, maybe just a bit unnecessary and graphic to illustrate a thread that was lighthearted.

Sparklingbrook · 21/03/2015 16:58

I don't like it. Why has he got his hands on her knees? Confused

Feminine · 21/03/2015 17:05

I don't like it.
I am not surprised though, seems most things are no longer sacred.

thehumanjam · 21/03/2015 17:08

I hate it. I'm surprised by MN tbh.

snapple · 21/03/2015 17:09

I hate it too.
