to tell everyone about my life changing surgery

Last week, I had a breast reduction. At the time of the surgery, I was 30HH, maybe bigger. Now, I'm around an FF with a lot of swelling. And it's amazing. I can breathe. My back hurts less already. I don't pop open shirts by just putting them on. I don't feel I'm flashing everyone by just walking around in a v-neck shirt. I feel incredible, like I'm ready to take on the world.

Congrats! You must be excited about your new life.

gaggiagirl · 20/03/2015 23:12

That's brilliant I'm really pleased for you. I know how you must have felt. I sometimes just feel like a walking pair of vulgar boobs.
You must feel amazing. Congratulations!

Phephenson · 20/03/2015 23:14

Love it, shout it from the rooftops!! :-)

ShowMeYourTARDIS · 20/03/2015 23:16

Thank you! I keep looking at them. They're beautiful, swelling, bruising, sutures and all.

I knew it was going to be this type of surgery, I'm very Envy congrats!

Notrevealingmyidentity · 20/03/2015 23:50

Happy for you. How much will they go down after swelling do you know ?

I have the opposite boob type but I've always been very happy with them. Not having to wear a bra is lovely.

@toughasoldboots

For me, the reduction included a breast lift. Everything is very perky now. I was quite saggy despite being 21.

It took about 6 months to get everything sorted with insurance (I'm American). It had been in the back of my mind for a few months, and then I realized one day I was so miserable and it couldn't go on any longer, so I called my GP for a referral that week.

Thanks! I feel really great already, honestly. The first 4 or 5 days were rough (mostly nausea), but I'm very much ready to get back to work and my classes. I'm glad I had it done while I'm young and will heal quickly. :)

ajandjjmum · 21/03/2015 03:50

Good for you!

Mumbehavingbadly · 21/03/2015 05:11

My darling daughter is looking into this. Since 13 years old she was in a G cup - And now she's a J. You will know what that's like from the physically restricting aspects ( back pain and rounded shoulders and its several pounds of extra fat you've got to carry around) and then there is the unwanted male attention from those usually older men with ... Urgh I can't even bother to write about them.
The impact on her mental wellbeing, self esteem (not every girl thinks the the oft repeated line .. 'Cor Katie Price'd pay thousands to have a pair like that' is a compliment).
So well done to you. My DD will need the nhs to support her. I hope they come through for her.
Enjoy your new life!

Tootsiepops · 21/03/2015 05:34

I had a breast reduction 7 years ago. It took me a full six months just to stop looking at them admiringly Grin Asthetics aside, it is definitely a life changing surgery. V pleased for you OP!

VelvetRuby · 21/03/2015 08:08

I'm really happy for you. Mine are E cup and I find that pretty hard at times so I imagine it would be very tricky with H H.

PacificDogwood · 21/03/2015 08:12

Oh, it's lovely to hear you sounding so happy SmileGrin

It's big surgery, I hope you recover well and that you'll keep enjoying your new shape (34G here…)
Thanks

ditavonteesed · 21/03/2015 08:19

So pleased you are so happy, I had the surgery 8 years ago and still love my boobs. no back problems since :) hands down best thing I ever did for my on health.

UnikittyInHerBusinessSuit · 21/03/2015 08:20

Happy for you OP, that sounds great.

So sad that the appalling and relentless behaviour and "attention" of some men is a motivator for women to have actual surgery, but of course there are many physiological reasons as well.

seriouslypeedoff · 21/03/2015 08:22

Congratulations! I had mine reduced and lifted 10 years ago tomorrow. Best thing I have done! Never ever regretted it. Love my boobs even now. I have had another child since and they are still how they were when I had the operation!;; yanbu!!Flowers

ShowMeYourTARDIS · 21/03/2015 16:08

Thanks, everyone!

Glad to hear they're intact after having kids. I am a little concerned about that.
