To not want to talk about poo all the time?

DS and I have been going to a playgroup for a while now and he enjoys it and I get on well with the other mothers. Recently a new mother has joined who has a six month old DS. She is very nice but she has just started weaning him and seems to be obsessed with what his poo looks like! Obviously part of being a parent is noticing what's in your child's poo but she takes it to new levels as she seems to want to document her son's every movement. It's got to the point that any conversation with her ends up with all the other mums talking about poo too, and I'm not sure I really want to know if their child has blueberries or raisins or bits of carrot in their poo. It's too much! AIBU to think this has gone too far and it would be nice if we could talk about something else from time to time??

Is it possible she's suffering from anxiety?

However these groups and littlies in general can turn the most normal person into a competitive lunatic. Grin

But you are not being unreasonable and remember you don't actually have to go to groups.

sounds a bit shit.

tell her you really couldn't give a crap.

It's entirely possible I guess. I know I don't have to go to groups but I was actually quite enjoying it as I like the other mums and I'd struggled to click with anyone at other groups I'd attended. It's just that it now seems to have been taken over by this woman and her son's bowels!

YANBU, nobody likes a poo bore!

FenellaFellorick · 20/03/2015 09:16

can't you make a joke of it?

Laugh and say can we PLEASE leave it with the poo now? Next we're all going to be bringing samples in to show each other! Do you think we're all getting a bit poo obsessed?

By including yourself in it, you won't be seen as having a go, but as laughing at yourself too.

ShatnersBassoon · 20/03/2015 09:20

She probably has no idea she's doing it. Make a joke of it, say "I feel like I've been there through every nappy change with you, and I'm sure the feeling's mutual! I will enjoy my tea and biscuit at this group one day hahaha!"

YADNBU, this sort of behaviour gives all parents a bad name!!

Haha - half my job is talking about poo...I was saying yesterday I need to design a poo course so that I can get likeminded people coming to our community garden and talk about the benefits of poo in growing food.

Whenever one of my students starts getting lippy I threaten another half hour poo talk. Soon shuts them up.
