To be a bit worried about the eclipse in a woo kind of way

Caoimhe1922 · 19/03/2015 17:44

A friend of mine ,from many years ago , is a professional astrologer and very much into multi woo stuff. Back in 1999 she told me to be wary of the eclipse as it signified a time of great change when dark forces can bear influence on our lives. Ancient Britons considered an eclipse as a harbinger of bad luck and a change of fortune for the worse.
Yeah, I thought what a load of bollocks. Later that month my exH met the teenage daughter of our friend and began an affair with her. Our marriage failed, my teenage children suffered mentally and had to have counselling and were prescribed antidepressants. I had a near breakdown and also was prescribed antidepressants. I then became ill and had a hysterectomy, then shortly after my op my hormones went haywire and my thyroid shut down. I am on medication re my hormones and thyroid and will be for always, no problem as long as I am well.
That eclipse was the start of a horrendous part of my life and my children's too as they both failed acedemically and neither have reached the potential their earlier years showed.
So tomorrow's eclipse, eh? WIBU to make hats out of tin foil for us all and hide away from the malevolent forces? Will I be safe? Any woo experts that can advise me?

The 1999 eclipse was just a few months after my grandfather died. On the day of the eclipse my Aunty came round to tell us she was pregnant. I really think the focussing on their new daughter/niece/granddaughter helped my aunty/mum/nan cope with their grief.

I know good/bad news has nothing to do with the eclipse, but I now always associate that eclipse with good news.

The eclipse itself can't cause bad/good times. It's just a memorable event that happened to coincide that's all.

Your friend did something very unkind to you. Is there a reason she wanted to upset you. She knew you were susceptible to this type of thing but thought it a good idea to tell you about 'dark forces' Etc. She is a horrible person.

She was talking CRAP.

Your woo merchant friend coming over all unnecessary planted the suggestion in your mind and then your run of misfortune reinforced it.

It's just coincidence, OP just as it would have been had things gone swimmingly Smile

Sorry you had such a bad time. We all have good and bad years, i doubt its anything to do with our place in the universe. I hope things are better for you now and this year will be a good one for you. Take care x

tilliebob · 19/03/2015 18:41

My eldest dc was born a fortnight after the 1999 eclipse and then I went on to have two more dc that I never thought I'd have. Nothing negative at all about eclipses!

Caoimhe1922 · 19/03/2015 18:41

Oh ok. I'm convinced. No tin foil millinery. Still going to wear my converses.

The80sweregreat · 19/03/2015 18:45

Caoimhe , i will don my old grey converse too tomorrow. The weather will probs be rubbish tomorrow anyway, just as it was in 99 i believe!

FenellaFellorick · 19/03/2015 18:46

there are what? 6 billion people in the world? odds are on every single day of the year, a lot of people will be having a really shitty time and a lot of people will be having a great day. Often some natural event will also be happening. The two are not related.
Obviously you're remembering your own shitty time and what your friend said but truly, there's no relation between the moon passing in front of the sun and misfortune in someone's life.

Judydreamsofhorses · 19/03/2015 19:07

caoimhe1982 I am going to go against the grain here - I am properly superstitious. However, I believe in a top and tail when it comes to bad luck. So, tomorrow's eclipse will square the circle, and it will be only good things coming your way from now on.

Caoimhe1922 · 19/03/2015 19:12

Judy, I like your style of woo!

Oh, there's lots of stuff going on all the time, whether celestially or down here on earth Smile

Just don't hang it all up on what crap people in your life are doing.

I actually do follow astrology (and NO, not everyone can do it, unless they just talk bullshit).

But I don't follow my life according to the stars.

Meh after the last eclipse I left home, went to Uni, met dh, got married, had Ds etc so all good stuff.

nauticant · 19/03/2015 20:40

To be fair, those sacrificed would have considered eclipses to have been very unlucky indeed.

ShootPeppaPig · 19/03/2015 20:43

YANBU but only because the mind is a powerful thing and I believe if you expect bad things to happen, they're more likely to happen as your focusing on things going wrong.

Believe everything will be okay - or even better, better - and it probably will be or at least you'll think it is as you attribute anything good to a positive change in your luck

stubbornstains · 19/03/2015 20:44

I like to think of it as God demonstrating his displeasure at George Osborne..Grin

I'm woo and I'm looking forwards to tomorrow. If it was going to be sunny (which isn't looking likely) I'd be shoving all my crystals out to get the unusual sunlight. As it is I'll stick a few quartz out before school run and be meditating with then later in the morning.

We all survived the Mayan calendar ending in 2012 and the Millennium Clock-of-Doom that was supposed to end life as we know it, or at least reset our alarm clocks before dawn. Oh and the 1999 eclipse which I missed as I was working as a nurse in an operating theatre (no windows) and went on to have a bloody good year afterwards. Ok there were some changes, but in my 43 years I can't think of a year when there hasn't been both good and bad within the space of a few months.

BMW6 · 19/03/2015 21:47

I am really looking forward to the eclipse tomorrow! Will be cloudy here (boo) but will get the twilight and weird quietness.

Co-incides with a Spring tide so at 9am will put on wellies (and other appropriate clothing), take dog for walk down to sea estuary and will have a wade through the water while walking on grass......

Lovely Smile
