Dd is 4.5 recently had her hair cut into a lovely Bob.

The front requires a slide or band to keep it tidy.

I was away at work and have returned to dd with a homemade fringe. This was apparently styled at the breakfast table apparently he got all stressed out as her hair was in her cereal....so chopped a chunk out....

I text him last night 'I'm so angry.... why on earth did you cut dd hair?'

The reply I got was 'I'm sick of it falling in her food'

We aren't in a great place right now in our relationship and I've been told I'm 'ridiculous' to react angrily....just want MN honesty ....

I guess in the great scheme of life this is not that important but....

Would this incident annoy you?

AIBU to be angry?

My mum used to let my granny cut my fringe...every photo of me until I'm about 6 has a fringe that looks like it was cut with a blunt lawnmower.

I was agreeing with you btw, that you should totally be unhappy at how he cut her hair.

Both my dd's have hair styles with no fringe - they have small foreheads, wear glasses and would look ridiculous. It takes two seconds to slip a grip or band in to keep it out of their eyes, even the constantly moving dd2 (nearly 3). Equally, her hair is a mass of curls so a shorter, curly style suits her beautifully. Dh doesn't have any say in how I get their hair cut, I don't tell him how the boys should have theirs done. Both of us do what we can with the styles chosen.

I'd be more cross at the loss of control over the issue and that your husbands reaction was to cut it off rather than telling his dd he needed to put two slides in.

Tab I know you were.... I commiserate as I remember the 'television fringe' look

I'm also really confused about some of the 'styling' comments OP. Unless a girl has a really short style (like a boy) surely all hair styles have to have bands or slides?? Don't they have to wear their hair up for school?

My daughter's hair is long and doesn't require a band or slide (I'm not sure what a slide is, but I'm sure we don't use one). My hair is also long, and also doesn't require a band or slide.
