Dh should stay in and host?

I have had real, proper, can't get out of bed Flu since Friday. Dh has invited his friend (who is looking for work) to stay, he arrived yesterday. This wasn't ideal but I said I couldn't do any of the normal hosting/cleaning and he needs to look after him. Dh has now announced he is off out on a client dinner tonight and said friend will be back here at 7pm.

I can barely cook the kids tea let alone be sociable. I just want to lie on the sofa, watch crap TV and ride this out. AIBU to think Dh should cancel this client dinner and come home and look after his friend? He says I am being uncharitable.....he also says he'll tell him to go to the cinema which makes me look like an unfriendly witch. His friend is lovely by the way but I feel like crap and can barely speak..

Yes he would definitely help with the kids. At least he is a nice guy! Could be worse I guess..

Can the friend not knock up some beans on toast for you & him?

Don't send him to the cinema, it would be awkward for him.

I think YAB a bit U. Some client dinners are important and cancelling would be very poor form. Just tell the friend kindly but firmly that you feel like death warmed up unwell and he needs to amuse himself for the evening. Or even better, that it would be so kind if he could keep an eye on the kids while you have a rest. Then take to bed with Lemsip and Netflix. Just don't be a martyr!

Yabu.
But you are poory so you're let off.
Get well soon. X

Thank you! Have calmed down now. Agree DH would have been unable to cancel the client dinner so bit of of a no-win situation. Will head off to bed early and hopefully feel better and more sociable in the morning.
