To have Hoover envy...

CallMeExhausted · 15/03/2015 14:44

... when I have a perfectly reasonable Hoover at home?

I don't want anything foolish like a Roomba, but oh, I would love a high quality Hoover instead of my ten year old cheapie noise maker.

What items of household drudgery do you lust after?

Mielers are gods gift to carpets. Especially with pet hair everywhere.

I really want a kitchen aid

CallMeExhausted · 15/03/2015 14:55

My kitchen aid was my gift to myself on my 40th birthday. I love it - definitely worth the spend.

I live in Canada - I would also love to have a snowblower. Thank goodness, we have had temperatures above freezing during the day for the last week, so the 20" of snow in the gardens is finally melting off.

I invested in a GTech Air Ram with added in handheld thingy.

It's cordless and really light to use. No bags, just a dust compartment you tip out.

Best vacuum cleaner ever!

kewtogetin · 15/03/2015 15:21

Oh I want a gtech!! Currently on my 2nd dyson in 5 years, piece of shit.

thelaststripe · 15/03/2015 15:25

Apart from the lugging it around aspect, my Henry was a pretty tough cookie.

CallMe, my aunt lives in Canada, from the photos she sends me I think you'd be better off with a miniature sun to clear the snow!

motleymop · 15/03/2015 15:27

I lust after a cordless vacuum cleaner also. And the biggest ironing board it is possible to buy.

Salmotrutta · 15/03/2015 15:28

kew I've had two dysons as well and much as I liked them they were very heavy and the hose attachment split and broke on both of them.

Hence the GTech.

I absolutely love it's lightness and it does a really good job!

Salmotrutta · 15/03/2015 15:31

You can get big ironing boards?

What, like wide enough to iron stuff like curtain without having to keep moving them up/down the board?

kewtogetin · 15/03/2015 15:37

Salmotrutter, the second dyson was one of those ball ones, slim and light but still utterly useless. Went up in plumes of black smoke, not sure what I'm doing wrong!

Salmotrutta · 15/03/2015 15:39

Black smoke?? Shock

motleymop · 15/03/2015 15:45

Not that big salmo ! But I have an extra small board and would like a bigger one, but have problems with storage in my tiny flat.

butterfly2015 · 15/03/2015 15:49

I finally abandoned my Dyson in favour of a shark rotator which is ridiculously light and I am stupidly happy at the purchase of it.

I started to seriously hate the Dyson with all its endless breaking parts. I need to love the Hoover, it's the one household task I actually enjoy doing.

kewtogetin · 15/03/2015 15:51

Yep, clouds of black smoke! Stunk the house out for days.

CallMeExhausted · 15/03/2015 16:08

It is the first glorious day here in ages, and I am totally neglecting the DCs in favour of starting a deep clean not really neglecting them, but it is fun to think they feel left out of my domestic bliss

Just finished cleaning the parlour, now on to making food for the minions and out for a trip to my friend's hobby farm this afternoon.

I've just used my dyson cordless for the first time and I love it. It's light, picks up dog hair (didn't get the animal) and easy to use. I think my house is going to be spotless for a while! Grin

motleymop · 15/03/2015 17:33

Right, that's it! I'm going to have to get one of these cordless jobs.
