I just can't help feeling offended that he's given me a card. I know he's sent it to say thank you but I feel like he's put me in the same bracket at his mother (and MIL and I detest each other).

does the card say
" thanks but I'm leaving you for your best friend's daughter "?

if so YANBU

Presuming your mother to his kids I don't see an issue.

It's entirely unnecessary imho, but it's not a despicable gesture to acknowledge that he appreciates your status and what you bring to the family as a mother.

Cornettoninja · 15/03/2015 09:31

Restingff, I've missed this - what's the issue with flowers in vases? Has it gone a bit poncey restaurant and they're meant to go in wellies and stuff now?

arethereanyleftatall · 15/03/2015 09:34

So, to summarise mn this morning we've had...

  1. He got me a card. The wanker.
  2. He didn't get me a card. The wanker.
  3. He got me a present, flowers, but now I have to sort them. The wanker.
  4. He didn't get me a present. The wanker.
  5. Breakfast wasn't up to my standards. The wanker.
Etc etc
Marshy · 15/03/2015 09:39

You're offended that he has given you a card appreciating you as a mother? Really??

MissBattleaxe · 15/03/2015 09:41

Nope. Sorry. I give up.

OddBodkins · 15/03/2015 09:45

Yabu obviously!!! Come on!! Blimey, I feel like a very rational, appreciative woman this morning. People have very high expectations of Mother's Day!

Eternity48 · 15/03/2015 09:45

This cannot be a serious post Confused

OddBodkins · 15/03/2015 09:48

I should add I am currently in the sofa having been up half the night with sad, post operative dog. DW (we're both mums) is abroad working and Dd is still in bed. It's just a day, if you're loved and appreciated most of the time calm down.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 15/03/2015 09:59

Cornettoninja it's a massive faff to cut the stems and put them in a vase with water and that outweighs any pleasure you get from them.

Apparently. In some sort of parallel universe.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 15/03/2015 10:00

arethereanyleftatall has summed it up perfectly! It's madness.

CupidStuntSurvivor · 15/03/2015 10:03

YABU and ungrateful.

Grantaire · 15/03/2015 10:09

You forgot:

  1. DH has flu on purpose. The wanker.

My DH is at work. The wanker.

Cornettoninja · 15/03/2015 10:11

Thanks gottobeinit, that's a relief - I only own 1 vase and 0 wellies! I was already feeling below the par!
