To wring my son's neck!

He lives overseas. He hasn't sent me a mother's day card, no biggie as he usually forgets and meh cards are overpriced shite anyway.

I am going through a bad patch of not sleeping. I woke up at 2am and only nodded off at 5.30am. I am exhausted.

He has just phoned to wish me Happy Mother's Day at 7.30am Aaaargh, I usually sleep till 8.30 when the alarm goes off, he has woken the whole house (well me and elderly father) and we both went into panic mode thinking only something dreadful would cause anyone to phone at such an ungodly hour on a Sunday morning.

I know his mindset, ring the old dear asap and get it over with. I think I will kill him, or should I be grateful he remembers I still exist?

You forgot (light hearted) in your title op Hmm

YANBU Grin never mind though eh? Did you have a nice day?

When I lived in Japan my mother always, always phoned me at 3 am "because I thought you'd want me to wait for your father" no matter how often I pointed out I had to be up at 6 am for work. Oh the melodrama hen I started unplugging the phone before going to bed, as of course if I didn't answer it meant I was dead Hmm

It works both ways and 7.30am isn't early.

That said I wouldn't phone my parents at 7.30am because they live in pensioner world where 7.30am is early... consequently I almost forgot to phone at all (also live abroad, mothers day is in May like every other country in the world) - did send fflowers. Money grabbing adverts and mothers day whinging on MN both come in useful. ..

Well, you can't ring his neck because he's far away.

You were obviously the first thing he thought of when he woke up this morning. Bless him.

Phone him for a chat in the middle of the night next time you can't sleep.

That's bloody boys for you! Grin

It was good of him to call you, but yes you can tell him you will wring his neck when you see him.

Love the 'fuck off again' to Jemima. Bloody hilarious Grin

I make a point of omitting lighthearted. It seems to take the fun out of guessing whether the op is loopy.
I think my son is reverting to type. He was 9 months old before he went through the night. He did ring me back and told me he loved me so I am feeling quite warm and squishy about him again. The neck wringing is currently up for review. I'm not ruling it out, I'm not ruling it in. It's my birthday next month so let's see what time he calls.
Actually Lynette, a nice long midnight phonecall might do him the world of good. I need to talk to him about numerous weighty matters:

Have you changed your underwear recently?
Did you make your bed this morning?
Did you get mass this morning?
What was the Gospel?
Are you eating your vegetables?

Thanks for a brilliant idea!
