Long time lurker, first time poster.
Have just been into the bathroom to chat with DP, he was brushing teeth, I left and got into bed to readmumsnet do some work, and he waddles through bedroom with his trousers halfway down. Apparently he had been planning on pissing in the sink until I walked in and he'd changed his mind in case I came back and caught him. Turns out its a regular thing and if he'd been bothered to pull his trousers back up over his arse I'd still be in the dark and washing my face in a pissy sink every night. I wouldn't mind but it's a tiny en suite, he only needed to turn around, not walk half a mile to the loo Sad

And what man hasn't had a wee in a sink at one point?

Whatamuckingfuddle · 13/03/2015 00:10

I'm fairly confident he hasn't pooed in the sink. I'm confident because I think it would require more effort than sitting on a toilet and clearly he's one for cutting corners

Well, just as long as he rinses it, it should be fine.
Urine is recommended to wash out wounds if no clean water is available.

midnighton · 13/03/2015 00:15

My ex did this. The sink was right next to the toilet. It was so weird and annoying, who wants to go to brush their teeth and find urine in the sink?!

YellowTulips · 13/03/2015 00:17

Speaking to DH - never in the en suite when (unless you own a mansion) the sink and loo are in equal pissing distance AND the loo is an easier aim...

As prev post sounds like a weird "thing" to me that would have me hiding all my hygienic bathroom items....but all to their own. Golden showers and all that Wink

Whatamuckingfuddle · 13/03/2015 07:32

He can't see the problem - apparently the sink is 'the perfect height'. he used toilet this morning so clearly not something he's does everytime

I wash my face in the bathroom sink. If I found my DH had been urinating in it, I would be beyond furious. That is disgusting. If he can't see a problem, there is something seriously wrong with him.

crazykat · 13/03/2015 07:47

Apart from it being disgusting to pee in the sink, it can damage the pipework as calcium deposits can form inside the pipe and block it if it isn't rinsed enough.

If the fact you think it's disgusting doesn't stop him, maybe the prospect of paying £££ to replace the pipework will.

miniavenger · 13/03/2015 07:50

He needs to get down on his knees then OP or squat, then the loo will be at perfect level too. If that's his excuse then he's really really shit at aiming. I'd buy one of those loo target blocks (since he needs the practice) and put some antibac in the bathroom just in case.

Whatamuckingfuddle · 13/03/2015 08:08

He has told me that it's not that bad as he runs the tap. But there's surely still wee around the edge? I shall move the dettol wipes to sink edge and put a ping pong ball in the loo for aim, although I have to say I don't think his aim is an issue, unless he always favours the sink I've never found any urine around the loo when cleaning. I'm hoping he'll stop from embarrassment now he's been caught or hide it better and clean the bloody bathroom himself for once

Thinking about it, I suppose it's not really that different from peeing in the shower, and everybody does that don't they? So I'm less horrified this morning

richthegreatcornholio · 13/03/2015 10:38

And what man hasn't had a wee in a sink at one point?

That's almost certainly true, I know I have on occasion but it's not something I'd make a habit of.

londonrach · 13/03/2015 10:46

Why? Peeing in the sink only ok if no toilet (uni so scared at night due to position of toilet in the halls late at night and leaving room one of friends used the sink if she needed to go and couldnt wait, but she really cleaned the sink in the morning.). Does he clean the sink. You must have a toilet!

Lweji · 13/03/2015 10:47

The main question is, though, does he do it in the kitchen too?

Lweji · 13/03/2015 10:53

You do realise that it's safe to drink pee, and to use it to clean wounds?

There shouldn't be a much higher risk of forming calcium deposits than for normal tap water.

BathshebaDarkstone · 13/03/2015 10:55

I did know a large man who had a tiny bathroom so he pissed in the kitchen sink, I can't think of any other situation where it would be acceptable. LTB.

Theoretician · 13/03/2015 11:03

And what man hasn't had a wee in a sink at one point?

Me! Me!

TBH, I'm average height (and umm... length) and I don't think I could reach comfortably. I don't think my basins are mounted higher than usual.

As for Kitchen sinks, those are mounted higher, surely you'd need to be 8 feet tall or have a 3 foot penis to reach into one of those?

Theoretician · 13/03/2015 11:05

OK, I've checked. I'm just tall enough. Not planning to put new-found knowledge to good use though.

Whatamuckingfuddle · 13/03/2015 15:52

I haven't asked about the kitchen sink but it's much higher and therefore, hopefully, easier to go to the downstairs loo.
I'm just hoping being caught out will shame him into stopping but to be honest I'm not sure im even particularly annoyed anymore, just mildly disgusted - I'm certainly not too worried about calcium deposits, that would surely take an awful lot of v concentrated urine and he works 6 days a week so I'm guessing the main bulk of his wee is going in his office sink loo
