We knew it was coming, but it makes me feel so very sad that he has died. The books were a huge part of my teenage years, and he seemed like such a decent bloke.
RIP Sir Terry Sad

I am a bit gutted. Every now and again I'd google him to see how he was getting on and then it went quiet... always a sign that things have taken a turn for the worse. It's really sad. He was fantastic in talking about it, totally what you would expect of the man, and he really helped to lift some of the stigma, which I really think will help them raise money for research and help sufferers get more appropriate treatment and support.

And on a personal level I'm gutted that we have now reached the limit of the number of Terry Pratchett books there will ever be. He was SO good. His books were disguised as lighthearted fantasy but the ideas in them were big.

I don't normally get affected by celebrity deaths, but this feels different.

I too feel teary about this.

Pratchett spent his life creating stories that made people smile, that were life-affirming. Such people are so valuable.

Nanny0gg · 12/03/2015 17:47

Such a cruel illness for such a brilliant mind.

Devastated.

Yes. He had so many more to write.

SoupDragon · 12/03/2015 17:50

There's a big thread here

:(

Discopanda · 12/03/2015 17:52

I though the OP would be MrsTerryPratchett! I've only read one of his books but really enjoyed it, my brother is a big fan.

londonrach · 12/03/2015 17:57

Very Sad. Awful disease. He didnt deserve this, no one does. Do i admit to the fact i dont get the books despite my friends all loving and understand them when they were at sixth form. My secret is i used to pretent to love them. Shh everyone. Im dyslexic if that makes any difference He was a very brave man who i respected and hoped he be one of the lucky ones. Rip terry. You gave so much to so many people and im really sorry i dont understand your books. I hope your afterlife is what you expect! Xxx

DrownedReindeer · 12/03/2015 18:16

Another one kind of dazed by the news here :(

Jennco · 12/03/2015 18:44

I must admit to crying a little, so so sad and cruel. I feel sorry for his friends and family, he will be missed x

nocoolnamesleft · 12/03/2015 18:58

YANBU. His books were genius. His dignity faced with the loss of genius was humbling.

RIP Terry Pratchett: gone to meet his Death.

Morloth · 12/03/2015 19:05

I hope he was right and you get what you believe and I hope he believed something wonderful.

Bet Death made a personal stop.

Caboodle · 12/03/2015 21:49

I'm gutted. Selfishly I wanted just one more story about Granny. I'll admit to the odd tear here too.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 12/03/2015 22:51

Personally I'm gutted. He's been a significant part of my life, formed at least part of my development, for the last 2 decades at least.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 13/03/2015 04:06

I cried when I heard. I don't normally care about celebrity deaths, but this one is different, it feels too personal

startwig1982 · 13/03/2015 04:50

I had a good sob when I heard. His books were so funny and witty: sheer brilliance. I'm so sad there won't be any more. Sad

crazypenguin · 13/03/2015 08:46

Someone has written a final chapter where Terry meets death. It made me cry. Neil Gaiman has posted it on his Facebook. It's good. Sad
