next door keep their bin inside their gate. i keep mine just outside my gate. they had to pass their bin to get to mine. They then put a dirty nappy in my bin!! and ran back in their house.

do i... A) knock on their door tell them use their own bin.... B) ask them why they dont use their own bin for nappys... and wait for answer. C) do a poo in their bin.... D) do nothing and stop moaning... E) when i have my baby throw every nappy in their bin.... Grin

So if its just a bin and just a nappy, why did the neighbour walk past their own bin and put it in ops bin?

Strawberyshortcake · 13/03/2015 09:15

Cheeky bugger. I would through it on their doorstep so they are aware that u know what they've done. A neighbour of mine once threw loads of stuff in my bin. She was daft enough to leave letters with her address on so I took it all out and threw it on her doorstep. If she'd have asked I probably would've said 'sure, no problem', though a shitty nappy is taking the piss, but to just throw your crap in someone else's bin without permission is just damn rude.

KittensOnAPlane · 13/03/2015 09:23

i'm with the FGS its a sodding bin - why do people even care! i would think ...hmm bit odd, and might even tease him about it (we have a good relationship)

so what, he might have had a brain freeze and just walked past his bin... its not a big deal

LampingPolars · 13/03/2015 09:25

You may save the problem by not being lazy and leaving your bin out on the street- people like you really get my goat. If for some reason you are unable to do this then organise assisted collection.

Honsandrevels · 13/03/2015 09:38

I once saw our ex-neighbours scooping up dog poo with a shovel and tipping it into their bin without bagging it. If someone did that to my bin I'd be raging but I'm not sure about the odd nappy. It is odd they walked past their bin though!

LittleBairn · 13/03/2015 09:43

kittens because if they get away with it they could make a habit of it filling the OP bin up leaving less room for her rubbish. So e councils fine for over flowing bins.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 13/03/2015 09:52

Of course YANBU! That's a shitty Grin behaviour. I'd knock on their door asking if they're not sure wgich bin is theirs.

chariotsofire · 13/03/2015 10:00

Where I live nappies have to be double bagged to be collected - so in a nappy bag and a black bin bag, if it wasn't the bin men wouldn't collect it so it would be a massive problem for us as we might not notice someone had done it until too late. Non-bagged rubbish is also not collected so people just dropping empty chip wrappers in on their way home can also cause problems. It's just laziness.

Someone once dropped a wine bottle (with no lid) filled with piss into our bin. I saw the bin men come along and open the bin say 'dirty bastards' and walk away. Obviously left to us to clear up so people may think I am previous about my bin but I certainly wouldn't want to clear that up on a regular basis. It's just good manners surely to keep your rubbish to yourself.

JoffreyBaratheon · 13/03/2015 10:14

All those people defending it are probably doing it. Wink

ClumsyNinja · 13/03/2015 10:19

Lucky the 'it's everyone's bin' folk don't live over here.

Here in Ireland, you purchase your bin services directly with a contractor. They also weigh the bins as they're emptied and your fee is adjusted according to how much waste you dump. They don't weigh the recycling bins. Our bin collection is fortnightly.

However, some (tight fisted) people don't bother having a bin and squash big black bin liners into the street bins leaving no room for casual waste.
Not really playing the game is it?

RosesAreMyFavourite · 13/03/2015 10:20

Take the nappy out, put it in their bin and move your bin off the public footpath.

trulybadlydeeply · 13/03/2015 10:25

They're probably stressed, or got things going on that you don't know about. Perhaps pop round with a couple of crème eggs? Wink

RocketInMyPocket · 13/03/2015 12:47

Truly Yep, creme eggs are definitely the way to go!! Grin

LadyTmalia · 13/03/2015 13:06

I found a dead goldfish in mine once (found it when I went to put the first bin bag in) , sadly it was still there 3 bin empties later :)

I eventually bleached the poor thing and swapped the bin for the ex-neighbours ginormous unsullied and unhaunted bin :)

(ex-neighbours house is still empty a year later, I wouldnt do it normally :o)

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 13/03/2015 13:09

check your council's website - ours gave us an extra nappy bin until the youngest reaches 3 years old. If yours does too, give the neighbours the link!

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 13/03/2015 13:16

Just when you think Mumsnet can't get any weirder - "it's disrespectful not to recognise that I am possessive about my wheelie bin". Grin

Grip, OP?

ThereisnoFinWay · 13/03/2015 13:20

It's a bin. I can't think why on earth this would bother you!

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 13/03/2015 14:57

We have one black bin (2 adults, 3 DCs), which is emptied once a fortnight.

No extra bags or extra items allowed. The bin will not be emptied if the lid is not fully closed.

You bet I have a problem with other people putting their rubbish in my bin! If I have to take any surplus rubbish to the council tip, so do they! (neighbours in this cul-de-sac all have cars).

ghostspirit · 13/03/2015 15:40

for couple of people that have said i should get my bin of the street. im pregnant and i cant get it back up the steps when its full... for the people who are saying get a life get a grip etc... you are taking this thread to serously.

You live in a basement that has no front garden? Sorry I'm finding it hard to picture this.

LittleBairn · 13/03/2015 15:56

roses really you have never come across a basement flat?

LampingPolars · 13/03/2015 15:59

You can have assisted collection or surely your DH/P could bring it back in? Bins obstructing PUBLIC paths are so irritating!

Stinkylinky · 13/03/2015 16:31

People walk by our house to get to the local school and nursery and if our bin is out for collection, people put their rubbish in there. I would much rather them do that than chuck it on the floor.

People leaving their bins out on the street all the time pisses me off though. I'm pregnant and manage to bring my bin in and out for collect up and down some steps Hmm

IStopped · 13/03/2015 17:01

It would irritate me. I'd knock on their door and say that you had noticed they put a nappy in your bin and that you don't mind it being left there this time but can they not do it again.

Yes, it will be an awkward conversation but it's likely to be effective.

If the bin is currently empty apart from the happy you could tell them that you were planning on cleaning the bin but that you can't now because you don't want to handle their kids shitty nappy.

CheeseandPickledOnion · 13/03/2015 17:08

I'd struggle to pull a full wheelie bin up and down a flight of steps and I don't think of myself as weak at all! The trouble is when houses were designed a lot of them weren't designed for the various bloody bins we have to have these days. Blue/Green/Brown/Green Box....
