I don't normally admit to checking out the Daily Fail, but I kind of agree this boy's teachers were right. I thought world book day was about celebrating the children's favourite books, not their parents trying to be funny?!

Oh FFS.... why do people always include a bloody Daily Mail disclaimer when posting a link.

One year we had a 7 year old turn up as Freddy Krueger, I kid you not.

Today we had about 20 Harry Potters, umpteen Where's Wally's and about 100 Elsas. There were 2 Lionel Messis (what book is he in then?)

DS 3 in year 8 wanted to just wear black, so we said he was the man called Jack from the graveyard book :)

Cantbelievethisishappening because I'm secretly ashamed that I sometimes check out the Daily Mail's website

Elsa is based on hans christian andersons the snow queen.

I'm not clicking that Daily Heil link but agree with most that it was an inappropriate costume.

Bloody world book day and all the where's wally (not a book you read > crap pointless costume), disney spin offs, boring harry potter characters (at least those ones are inspired by actual books that children read)...

I wish they'd drop the whole thing. Stick to book day tokens, guest authors, book swaps and activites which encourage and celebrate reading. The main focus has become own-clothes-day with strings attached.

LongHardStare · 06/03/2015 20:33

CalleighDoodle but the kids aren't dressing up as her because of hans christian anderson's snow queen. They've watched the film / like princesses / parents have found it easy to pick up a plastic dress from the disney shop / some combination of the above.

Fine, whatever. But don't pretend it has anything to do with celebrating reading or books.

What about this then? pbs.twimg.com/media/B_VbN6KWAAI6inK.jpg:large
