spending money

Dd age 3 and I are going away for a long weekend to just outside hull, staying in a caravan. I'm wanting to do activities with her and am trying to work out how much spending money I will need. So far I have 210 and will definitely have another 130 maybe a extra 100 on top of that too. Do you think that's enough or am I being unrealistic in how much I'll spend.

It depends what you want to do while you're there/how long you're there for. Does that include food? Will you be eating in the caravan or hoping to eat out? What activities are in the area?

ilovesooty · 05/03/2015 20:50

If your accommodation is paid for I'm struggling to imagine how you could spend that much money near Hull.

£440 for a long weekend? There is something wrong if you can't manage to entertain yourself and a toddler on £110 a day plus!

MrsItsNoworNotatAll · 05/03/2015 20:52

I think you'll have enough with that amount.

It's sounds ace. I love Caravans, have fun!

sarahlux · 05/03/2015 20:52

More then enough

zobey · 05/03/2015 20:56

Food is to be bought out of that money, as is fuel for the car I'm hoping to do a mix if eating in and out. I'm going to take her to the seaside on the Friday, the deep the Saturday, unsure the Sunday and eurika museum on the way home On the Monday.

You should be able to get the costs of the entrances you want online.

I went with my DS when he was 3 in a caravan... I found getting him to wind down really hard as the caravan was really exciting so can I suggest some down time. I would of took DVD player so he could sit and watch TV, colouring books ..

but have fun and if it is one of the bigger caravan sites they ofter have free activities for the little ones

It's Withernsea sands I'm going to. A park resorts one. Been before when she was a baby but that was with family.

I can't see how any of that will cost more than £440, unless you're eating in Michelin starred restaurants!

Have fun Smile

I'm not sure I would bother with the deep with a three year old. I went with my two at that age and it was a total anticlimax, an expensive one!!!

Although it was also incredibly busy which exacerbated things somewhat. ..

x2boys · 05/03/2015 23:24

I have taken less than that on a weeks caravan holiday with myself dh and two boys I cook though.

CallMeExhausted · 06/03/2015 01:01

Caravan getaways can be such fun, and as pricey or inexpensive as you make them. Even with fuel, you should have enough money, but for emergency purposes, you might want to tuck away perhaps 1/4 of your budget and mentally consider your available funds at £330. That is what I have done (as I do not keep credit cards).

If we don't need the slush fund, we generally do the fanciest or most expensive activity on the last day of our trip (as a surprise - that way, if we need to use the emergency funds, there is no disappointment for the DCs due to a change in plans).

Have a fantastic time.

Hull tends to be on the cheap side. I can't think of any Michelin-starred resteraunts around here. I'm struggling to imagine how on earth you could spend that much in a long weekend! The Deep is relatively expensive but you can afford it Smile and actually I think a 3 yr old would like it. You will even be able to get something from the gift shop with that much cash. If you have a long weekend I'd avoid it on Sat and Sun though.
Have a good time.

That's more than I plan to spend in Paris over Easter!

Warm coats on and onto the beach with a bucket and spade. Dc will love it! I would visit the transport museum - you can go on the trams etc (free) and the whaling museum (free). East park to see the animals (free) and go on the swings there. I reckon you could do two days for free and have fab days out, then the deep one day. There is a fish trail through hull, (fish on the pavements) you can probably download the fish trail (guessing).

Fish and chips at the sea side.

I'm jealous op, you will have a great weekend!
