Flying on easy jet uk flight. Myself and dd1 (6)and dd2(8). Big treat for us. Goung to visit friends. Managed to get flights cgeap enough for it to be possible. Do i really need to pay the extra money to ensure we get seats together. Been a long time since we flew but have never had to do this before.

Aibu to think it is just another way to squeeze more money from you??!

If I were sat next to an unaccompanied child due to a numpy parent not ensuring they were sat together, it would be zero % of my interest. Vomit away. Nothing to do with me.

I completely agree!

That's slightly different Tumbles. It's parents who could have pre-booked but didn't and expect people to move simply because they have DC that I have no sympathy with.

MrTumblesBavarianFanbase · 06/03/2015 18:41

How do you tell the difference Proud?

ProudAS · 06/03/2015 18:52

Hopefully they would say something but I'm not here to police them and the cabin crew should know even if I don't.

Woozlebear · 06/03/2015 18:59

I would never move so someone can sit with their dc. If it wasn't important enough to organise in advance, then it's not important enough for someone else to put themselves out over it.

And it's not easyjet squeezing more money out of you any more than any other commercial endeavour on this planet is- the optional extras are split out to make the basic fare as cheap as possible for those prepared to do without the optional extra.

By all means don't pay it, but don't expect easyjet or anyone else to later give you for free what you haven't paid for.

This> If it wasn't important enough to organise in advance, then it's not important enough for someone else to put themselves out over it. sums it up in a nutshell.

Spot on Woozlebear

First time I flew a package holiday I didn't know you had to pay to sit together. Some kind person moved or DS 2.5 would have been 10 rows away from me.

Alway book them up now.

Flipchart · 06/03/2015 19:38

I was on a connecting flight from Dussedorf on a very small plane last year and all four of us were sat apart(me DH and 2 kids). I was rather pleased with this as DS2 just talks and talks. However a loved up couple asked if I would mind swopping seats so that they could sit together. I said I didn't ( and meant it) however I was seated next to chatterbox son!! Oh well!

lavendersun, my case is a bit particular.

I have autism and would feel very stressed by being made to move only to suit another passenger. I would be uncomfortable about seat-changing at the best of times but if it were to accommodate someone who didn't want to pay the extra seating fee I would not be happy.

ProudAS · 06/03/2015 20:22

I'm the same Crocodopilis.

love the username BTW

JustWantToBeDorisAgain · 06/03/2015 20:46

We check in online the day check in opens (1 month before ) ( and make sure there are plenty of seats together available). We have always to date been given seats in a row ( 5 of us ).

Checked in already for our flight at the end of the month! ( and the return option 2 weeks later!)

itsbetterthanabox · 06/03/2015 21:25

EJ will refund you the allocated seating charge if you are made to move but only if you contact customer services.
Yes people did threaten legal action but it's time consuming and costly to contacting their legal team so people often didn't bother. The cabin crew do what they want and any complaints go to customer services who can only contact cabin crew/the airport if it's absolutely necessary so most of the time the airport staff don't even know the customer has complained.
They would not move someone who had a medical condition and that was the reason they sat there they would move other people.
