to complain to the SQA?

I am studying at college and have some tests to do on the computer. Tests are multiple choice questions which should be very straightforward and are given out and marked by the SQA.

I have done two of these assessments so far, and each time there have been several obvious grammar and spelling mistakes in about a quarter of the questions. On one occassion every member of my class got a question wrong because of the way it was worded, even our lecturer has agreed that the wording of the questions in general is awful and he has seen the mistakes for himself.

AIBU to complain? I think that they should at the very least make an effort to proof read these things before releasing them for use.

Agree , it's bloody annoying , it's almost done so that they can prove nobody gets 100% so their test is the hardest to pass

I don't think so, it looks like the person who made up and wrote the questions was being thick/ lazy rather than it having been worded awkwardly to make it difficult.

I would complain to the Head of Qualifications. I used to work at an awarding body and have come across a similar complaint before (though on paper tests). The Head would get the writer and another person to check it and if the wording was found to be ambiguous and the majority of the students answered it in incorrectly the same way they would award the missing marks to the students and change the question on the next print run. Given yours is an online test it will be easier for them to change quickly if it is unclear.

Yes complain!

The SQA are terribly keen on upholding standards and whatnot so they bloom in' well should be told!

Thanks TheAnswer thankfully we all knew our stuff well and passed regardless, to be honest its the bloody principle of it that is bugging me!

We are constantly told about proof reading and checking work before submitting it so I don't think its much to ask for them to do the same- it also worries me that my English seems to be better than that of the people who are testing it!
