AIBU to think this is a racket? We have them from time to time and they always have a story about being out of prison, trying to make ends meet etc then turn very nasty when you don't buy anything. Is this a psychological ploy to make you afraid of turning them down?

I had one this evening and am now a bit paranoid that he's going to come back to give me more abuse, he was so unpleasant. I know it's unlikely.

we had a real aggressive one round here just a week or 2 ago.he asked me why everyone was laughing at him.I said I don't know and went to shut the door, when he accused me of laughing at him, when he was just trying to better himself and got quite aggressive.
we are in a small affluent village where everyone knows each other and I noticed another guy with a boy of about 13, taking pictures of the sides of houses whilst the owner was distracted talking to the 'salesman'
May havbe been harmless, may have been unrelated but Hmm

We had a spate of these guys come round when I lived in East London. One was really horrible and argued aggressively with me when I said I wouldn't buy anything. "you can fucking afford it!" Kind of thing. I ended up shutting the door on him, then he went and stood at the front window and peered in. I shouted that I was calling the police and he scarpered. When I called 101 they said not to buy anything from them, it's all gang related and if they came back I should call 999.
