People that complain 'Don't bother, there was a recent thread about this'

So what if there was a recent thread. That was a different one! Geez, some people don't come on for months at a time. AFAIK Feeding has been a loop of the same damn topics for the last 9 years.

So why are posters so keen to leap onto a thread with snark about God-So-Been-Done-To-Deeeeaaaaath crap?

AIBU? Was there a recent thread about this?

2006, since you ask :o. Comparatively fewer people, so of course they could bloody remember all the threads about smart waterproof coats. I just stumbled in there wildly asking the same dull questions.

QueenBean · 02/03/2015 22:37

Ooh can I be part of the new clique too please?! We could have a code word. Can we be a nice clique though?

I'm sure that a regular will be along soon enough to roll some eyes / tell us how dull we are / that this subject has been done so many times before

RequestUpgrade · 02/03/2015 22:38

I suppose there could be a thread echo team, Reduce, Reuse and Recycling threads. Someone could go into the archives once a week and fling out a thread about taking shoes off at the front door.

RocketInMyPocket · 02/03/2015 22:39

So what was the smart waterproof coat of choice, circa 2006 then Hassled?

Fairenuff · 02/03/2015 22:42

We have 'seasons' on mn though don't we. And we just keep churning the same old stuff over and over again.

We're done with Christmas, NY resolutions and (nearly) Lent. Now we will embark on elections and how much chocolate children get at Easter.

Weddings are 'in' atm as everyone gears up for the summer and so are school place appeals.

ILs are all year round Grin

Every day is Groundhog day on mn.

Hassled · 02/03/2015 22:43

Bloody Boden. I bought one which was the equivalent of tattooing "Boden Mug" across my forehead. If Boden were ever to have a flashing light/siren, my coat would have been it. It was at least waterproof.

ClashCityRocker · 02/03/2015 22:44

I think threads come in spates. You'll get loads of parking ones, then loads of wedding ones, then loads of smutty ones...

Tis a good thing. one day I am going to go through all the past AIBUs and chart how MNers attitudes to diluting juice, baby led weaning and wedding poems have changed other the years.

bingobingo · 02/03/2015 22:46

It is me who started the current 'TV in 3 year old's bedroom' thread and was told it was done recently. As far as I can tell all of the threads on Relationships are exactly the same: i.e. someone has married a crap bloke and he flirts with women at work, refuses to do any housework and surprise surprise has a horrible mother who is now the posters mother-in-law. In fact they could all be about the same sodding bloke, but that doesn't seem to bother anyone.

RequestUpgrade · 02/03/2015 22:46

Clash, there's a PhD in that.

OP posts:
Judydreamsofhorses · 02/03/2015 22:49

I'm new here waves and the relationship threads terrify me in how quickly they go from "my husband looked at me funny" to "please leave him".

bumbleymummy · 02/03/2015 22:51

Yes, Judy. There's a lot of 'leave the bastard' or LTB. Pretty much anything is grounds for it :)

thornrose · 02/03/2015 22:52

I've been here years and yes I agree, it's like Groundhog Day.

How often do you wash your towels, bedding, fanny, type threads have nothing new to give, ever, so I avoid. Same as ff/bf and SAHM/WOHM.

If I was new to MN I wouldn't want to trawl for opinions circa 2011 I would want real time responses and new people must join every day.

Many other topics can remain interesting even if they've been done to death.

ClashCityRocker · 02/03/2015 22:53

Would anyone like to see the first thread in AIBU? For some reason, although there's three thousand odd pages, the last few are blank?

ClashCityRocker · 02/03/2015 22:55

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/271957-oi-the-both-of-you-that-go-on-my-feet

This. I don't get it.

But it soon turned into a spate of mil rants, you will all be pleased to note.

RequestUpgrade · 02/03/2015 22:59

And it's cliquey! Love it.

OP posts:
RustyBear · 02/03/2015 23:08

I get it - but then I think I actually remember it! I used to talk to SpookyMadMummy a lot, she thought of my first Christmas name, but if she's still on here, she's name-changed.

ClashCityRocker · 02/03/2015 23:10

Bloody hell RustyBear!

So, what's it all about then?

And is 3- January 2007 when AIBU started?

thornrose · 02/03/2015 23:11

A call out for The both of you that go on my feet aka 2 shoes. Grin

ClashCityRocker · 02/03/2015 23:12

Oh yeah!

Duh Blush I get it now!

RustyBear · 02/03/2015 23:14

It could well have been then, I know it wasn't here when I joined (started lurking Oct 2005, registered Feb 2006, first surviving post March 2006 - any previous ones must have been in Chat)

Morelikeguidelines · 03/03/2015 12:56

Can I repeat recent advice re mils, that you put such posters in a sling and try Co sleeping with them (or Co piloting as dh calls it)...
