I've caught chicken pox off DS and I am NOT HAPPY

Who knew a childhood illness was so appalling? My eyeballs hurt. There must be 100 spots under my hair. Behind and IN my ears are a mass of spots. My chin must have a crop of about 15 which will just look smashing when they scab. My forehead is plastered in them. And now today they have started to creep further and further down my torso.

AIBU to want to go and hibernate for the next week?

Having seen the level of distress that DD1 (2.5) got into with it in January, I can only offer Flowers, Brew, Cake, Wine and masses of sympathy. It looked absolutely horrendous. I've not had it but weirdly am immune.

He seems to be going against nhs advice which suggests that anti vitals should be started within 24 hours for adults.

fizzycolagurlie · 03/03/2015 01:43

Can you call back and say you think its dangerously close to your eyes? I really would feel better knowing they gave you anti-viral meds.

TheSmallerBadger · 03/03/2015 02:00

The guidelines for antivirals for adults are if you present within 24hrs of spots appearing, or if you have a chronic disease that puts you at increased risk, or if you have particularly severe disease. The only debatable one of those is whether or not you have severe CP and the GP has to make a judgement call about that. If you disagree with his/her decision about that you could discuss with them again, but please don't lie in order to get them.

TheSmallerBadger · 03/03/2015 02:02

I hope you feel better soon though, it is miserable.

fizzycolagurlie · 03/03/2015 02:20

But from what she has said the spots do sound dangerously close to her eyes. I was not encouraging her to lie.

letsplayscrabble · 03/03/2015 05:43

I would speak to another GP. that's somewhat dubious advice.
