To not want to buy iTunes vouchers???

my sister has 3 kids - all of them request iTunes vouchers for birthdays and Christmas. They are all old enough to write thank you notes, but do not. iTunes vouchers start at £15 each. Last year my only child received a beany baby monkey and some bubbles for his birthday. We sent a thank you note. I feel very obliged to buy iTunes vouchers now as that's what they ask for every year.

So don't

Send then a card and a present you think is appropriate: if they conplain it shows their true colours, if they don't say anything, means you can repeat again the next year Grin

Yanbu, a bottle of bubbles -what cheapskates! Don't go out of your way for them.

send £5 in a card

Eva50 · 02/03/2015 09:09

You can buy packs of three £10 iTunes cards. I got them in Tesco. Buy 1 pack and split it for the three birthdays or tell dsis that, like her, you can only afford a token gift.

dementedpixie · 02/03/2015 09:09

or depending what age they are just send a card

Stickerrocks · 02/03/2015 09:11

You can buy a 3 pack of £10 vouchers and split them up. However, I would find something else within my budget and give them an actual present. I doubt if they will be able to remember in 10 years the App they downloaded from Auntie Span for their 13th birthday, but they might remember a smaller, more personal gift.

I would put a £5 note in a card.

You can also buy £10 email itune vouchers direct from Apple INFO HERE. It will save you the cost of the card too. Smile

You don't always get what you ask for in life. I'd get them a smaller gift.

You can buy 3-packs of iTunes cards at 10-15% discount, different stores have the offer at different times but you can usually find them somewhere (I get mine at Tescos whenever they're on offer and just save them till I need them). That works out at £8.50 a card which is a lot more affordable.

If a Beanie Baby cost £5.00 ish then I would do no more than send them a fiver in a card. Don't feel bad, they will love having some cash I'm sure.

Florida33767 - I am reporting your post. That link looks incredibly dodgy and even if it's not it's advertising.

If you really don't want to buy the voucher then give cash, they can bank it and buy stuff from iTunes that way.

My family got all uppity about cash gifts a few years ago. Everyone was saying 'I want this big thing so can you give money' and it was like swapping cash throughout the year. We said we would no longer give cash. Fine great, lasted one year. Now it's 'voucher for here or there' and it's just the same as cash.

So is it the amount that bothers you or the impersonality of it?
