to tell me whether my experience is extreme? I have timed my hot flushes (using a contraction timer app) and I am flushing, on average, every 35 minutes. Last night I woke up in a flush 5 times. Is this extreme? I am honestly struggling at work with tiredness, and with the discomfort of a regular flushes. I am not able to take HRT at the moment (I'm desperate to go back on it).

I'm 46 and started the menopause after my hysterectomy 3 years ago.

I chose not to take HRT instead I took a soya based supplement and in all honesty I feel great. I get occasional hot flushes but nothing that causes me stress.

Menapace supplements and Arkopharma phyto soya supplements.

They are not cheap but always three for two in Boots.

silver that does sound bad. I am nearly 50 and have a flush once or twice a day, but not every single day.

Like PP I would not take HRT as two people close to me have contracted breast cancer after taking it and I feel I would be tempting fate.

I am a teacher/lecturer and most of the time I will just whip off my jacket/cardi or quietly open a window to try to take the edge off a flush. If I am amongst friends I just say "Oh God! FLUSH!!!" and start wafting air into my top!!!

Maybe see what your GP suggests as your situation does sound extreme. I hope it all improves for you soon. Thanks

I started getting flushes hourly on average with a break between 7am and 3pm around Christmas time but had been having moments of heat for a while before that. I want to avoid HRT if I can (breast cancer in the family) so spoke to my breast cancer consultant about it. I was advised that firstly if the flushes are unbearable then there's no evidence that the increase your risk of bc if you take HRT for just two years. Also that some anti depressants have been proven to reduce flushes and they have no be risk.

I'm keeping both of those up my sleeve for when I just can't live with the flushes any longer. In the meantime All of a sudden a couple of days ago they just stopped. Yesterday I had a mini flush, but hardly noticeable I suspect they'll come and go.

Thanks everyone. I have an appointment with my doctor next week to monitor the high BP that meant I was not able to continue the HRT. I may refuse to leave the building until I have the prescription.....
I'm overdosing on soya and take Menapace - I'd say they are having no impact but I guess the hot flushes might be constant without them.
If this carries on I will need antidepressants as well.

I was going to suggest Menopace as well.

Coming back to link to the sage tablets that have made me feel human again.

Acupuncture has helped me loads as well. My flushes started back up when I had a travel vaccination for hep A and some minor surgery in the same week, and another session of acupuncture calmed everything down again. It felt like I'd been re-set.

OhFlippity

Hope you see this but that wasn't the case for me.

The most awful periods with dysmenorrhea from age 9, dd is going through it now bless her.
Anyway, really easy 3 births and completely gone through menopause at 40 with very hardly any symptoms.

Thanks to those suffering.
