Hello hoping,

I have Pcos, not endometriosis but started a similar thread earlier on. Looks like we are both hoping so very much for a baby! Best of luck to you. You're in my thoughts xxx

My fallopian tubes were fine but I'd had it lasered twice xxx

It's a good 18-20 years ago, so detail a bit fuzzy:

It took me a couple of years after diagnosis with moderate to severe endo (a grapefruit-sized chocolate cyst on one ovary). I'd been complaining about severe bleeding 15 days out of 30 for years till the GP agreed to refer me, but that's another story.

That ovary was non-functioning after the surgery. Took the pill (microgynon) back to back for a year or so to reduce bleeding (blimmin doctors kept changing their minds if I should have break-through bleeds or not so new growths came back, needed lasering with laparoscopy). After second laporoscopy, and problems with adhesions NHS gynae said I had six months window to get pregnant, but highly likely I'd never make it (had a hormonal disorder on top). I was pregnant naturally in THREE.

My gorgeous DS is now a nearly 6 foot teenager.

Wishing you and all fellow-sufferers and easy and successful conception!

TOH

Hi. I have / ?had moderate (=stage 3) endometriosis diagnosed by laparoscopy as part of fertility investigations after we had been TTC just over 2yrs. Couple of months later we started IUI and I got pregnant on the first cycle, will be 39 weeks tomorrow and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of our little one! :) So it took about 2 and a half years of trying, but once I got the diagnosis and treatment (both the lap and IUI had a significant role imo) it was actually pretty successful. Some people with endo don't seem to have any problems TTC, though. How long since your diagnosis and how long have you been trying?

CaminanteNoHayCamino · 28/02/2015 21:19

Hi Hoping. It took me three years first time and 2.5 the second. I had stage four, and had surgery to remove three ovarian cysts and endometrial growths from all over my abdominal cavity, including my liver, nine months before I got pg. I had also had three months of Zolodex which put me into chemically induced menopause prior to the surgery in an attempt to shrink the cysts and the growths. I was 35 when I got pg btw. In my second pregnancy, I had another endo-caused ovarian cyst which they said would be ok. It grew to six cms then at 35 weeks ruptured, and after 15 agonisng hours the rupture triggered labour and I had to have a very fast EMCS and surgery to clear up the mess.

However my sister also had stage four endo and got pg with a few months of trying. I suspect she was not in such an advanced state as me though. I firmly believe I would never have had children without the surgery.

What's your situation out of interest?

hopingforamiracle · 28/02/2015 21:24

Thanks for the replies.

Caminante - I'm 24 and single, diagnosed with stage 1 endo and adenomyosis. I know I'm still young, but it's playing on my mind and don't want to leave it too late, especially if I need IVF.

Hi,

I have / had moderate (stage 3) endo. I had a laser excision and then started trying 1 year after the surgery. It took us nearly 2 years with our first, however only 1 year was properly concerted trying (temp checking, charting levels, sperm friendly lubricant).
I do have other problems, mainly extremely heavy and long periods, meaning my luteal phase was short and sometimes I was still bleeding during ovulation window.

I then got pregnant a second time, took 14 months but lost this one at 11 weeks.

Then I had a chemical pregnancy with took us 9 months to conceive.

Finally I am currently 23 was pregnant and this one took us 5 months!

I hope this give some comfort or hope. I was often told I wouldn't be able to conceive, so 4 conceptions and 1 healthy birth was better than I could have hoped for!

If you're single at present then probably the best thing you can do is to be on the combined pill (or another contraceptive method which will suppress the endometriosis) to stop it from developing over the next few years until you're ready to start a family. Unfortunately I don't think anyone can predict whether it will affect fertility in your case before you TTC (unless you know that your fallopian tubes have been affected, in which case it would impact it). And I would suggest going to GP when you are TTC as they should be able to refer to fertility specialist earlier if you already have a diagnosis which affects fertility. :)

I had moderate endo, had a lap in October 2010, was advised to wait until I had a period before TTC. Period on 25 December Hmm 2011, conceived DD1 in the middle of January 14.

DD1 born October 2011. Stopped breastfeeding in Feb 2013, return of endo symptoms (no diagnosis), started taking Yasmin pill from Feb 2013 until end of May 13. Conceived DD2 in the middle of June.

PrettyPenguin · 28/02/2015 22:11

Moderate endo and PCOS here. DD1 took 3 months to conceive, DD2 was a one hit wonder and DS was also a one hit wonder having also managed to get through the pill, condom and MAP!! (I was having a colitis flare so knew my pill would be ineffective, hence the condom, which split and the MAP also didn't work because of my flare)

For the two that were planned, I used a digital thermometer to track my basal body temperature each morning (before even getting out of bed). This allowed me to easily keep track of when I was ovulating.

Good luck!

stage four endo, everything gummed up. Two laps, six IVF cycles in total, two miscarriages, two live births - one IVF, one spontaneous. Overall 5 years ttc but we got there in the end.

kbbeanie · 01/03/2015 00:26

Was going to start a thread like this earlier myself.
Im 24, was first diagnosed with endo via a laproscopy in feb 2014. had endo lazered and some adhesions removed. Consultant never said what stage it was just that it was quite severe. removed endo from quite a few places from what i can remember. I was symptoms from about 16 and then painful intercourse started when i was around 19 and i kept being palmed off for years.
i already have 1 ds he is almost 3....came off the pill in the may and wasnt trying for him and got pregnant in the july a complete accident. the endometriosis was undiagnosed then but i was still having the pain etc.
Since my lap in february the pain never eased in fact if anything i would say its worse.
i came off the pill in september 2014 and currently ttc no2. 6 months on and i have only had 2 periods since then i had a withdrawal bleed in the september and then had an extremely light period beginning of November and again a few weeks ago (very light is abnormal for me i usually flood for the first day)
Ive been doing OPKs and just doing them the same time everyday because my cycles seem messed up...they do get darker and almost positive but never actually go positive and then they just fade again and period doesnt turn up for ages. ive tried charting temperature as well but it doesnt seem to be showing anything either.
im worried now that im completely overthinking it because i now know i have endometriosis and im convinced i wont be able to conceive and that im not ovulating.
Fingers crossed for all of us that we get positive pregnancy tests soon. im hoping i might get another period this month and they will regulate again and then at least i will have a chance each month. if i dont get another period now for another few months im going to go to see the doctor

my2centsis · 01/03/2015 01:19

Stage 3 endo... 7months

Jjuice · 01/03/2015 01:34

Hi.
My sis found me in a ball on the floor when I was 18 she took me to a & e. Long story short I had endo diagnosed by laposcopy and cauterised. They said I would need ivf.
fast forward 9 years. Came off pill. Went dr with severe stomach pains 3 months later - bedding in pains!
I now have 2 beautiful children. There is hope!

Chipstick10 · 01/03/2015 08:55

By the time I had my third my endometriosis was extremely severe. I fell the first and only time we didn't use protection

Littletabbyocelot · 01/03/2015 11:09

Hi. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 23, when they removed one tube. I don't know what stage I have, just that it's always been described as very severe. I started ttc at 28 and very quickly needed my remaining tube removing so required ivf. I had a final round at 32 and now have twins.

I agree with previous advice about staying on the combined pill until you can ttc. Also my biggest regret is not looking at my diet earlier. I followed the endometriosis diet during my final round and think I might have been able to conceive naturally if I'd done it sooner.

abbydattani27 · 08/04/2015 23:29
