I have one too. My first cold in yonks fgs. Can already feel my sinuses hurting grrr. Hate colds.

My cold sends your cold sympathy.

GokTwo · 28/02/2015 20:53

I agree. A cold can make you feel bloody awful but you feel you have to get on with it!

ClashCityRocker · 28/02/2015 20:58

Hurray, my dh has realised that I actually do feel quite poorly!

'You look awful, you should go to bed...'

Now just waiting on him bringing me a hot lemon up - I'm suspecting an ulterior motive though, as he was meant to change the bedding today, and hasn't got round to it yet - obviously, he can't do it if I'm in bed....hmm.

In other news, I have regressed to a five year old and had eggy bread for tea.

I'm on day 7 of common cold aka womans flu. Today has been my worse day feels like a fog in is in my brain so spend most of the day lazing on the sofa or going to bed to rest mn in peace I have a busy day tomorrow that'll involve walking ALL day, looking after children and pretending to enjoy myself.

ClashCityRocker · 28/02/2015 21:17

Ugh sounds hellish boris.

Supposed to be cooking a roast for pils and my mum tomorrow but have knocked that on the head - felt a bit bad, as its 'only a cold' but mils immune system is compromised at the minute so no choice, which is a relief.

I keep misquoting Macbeth 'who would have thought the old bint had so much snot in her?'.

crazykat · 28/02/2015 21:41

I feel like this most of the winter thanks to my germ factories dcs who constantly bring home viruses from school and share with me. I have a low level cold that lasts weeks and makes me feel like crap but not bad enough to hide in bed even though I want to. Every so often I'll pick up something else like chest or throat infection that makes me look and feel like death so I can stay in bed at the weekend.

It's surprising how much a low level cold can wipe you out when you have it for weeks. I usually take paracetamol and carry on while wishing I was in bed.

CupidStuntSurvivor · 28/02/2015 22:11

Head cold here. Sad

And whenever I mention it, I get "oh, you don't look ill and you got loads done today".

Nope...I'm a single mum. I can only afford to rest when it's serious. Shit needed doing, so I put on my war paint, had a berocca, pain killers and coffee, and I carried on with my day while feeling like my head got trapped in the car door.

So rather than telling me I look fine, offer to entertain my child for 10 minutes while I have a nice sit down and a Brew.

SuperFlyHigh · 28/02/2015 22:17

fox yes even worse is a head cold! I used to get evil head colds but since getting flu jabs no more, I did get sinusitis had to get antibuotics and got scant sympathy from my boss one day as it was work evening xmas do (very popular free booze, paid taxis etc) - I snapped at my boss "I wouldn't have just bought a £200 coast dress for the ball if I weren't on 2nd lot of antibiotics for sinusitis would I?!" I'd be off work 2 or 3 days and It was my day back and I'd had to or was going to have to miss the ball!

SuperFlyHigh · 28/02/2015 22:17

Been not be!

SuperFlyHigh · 28/02/2015 22:19

Out of interest Vit c and zinc helps (the fizzy ones) sainsbos used to do one but the blighters appear to have discontinued it!

A pharmacist years ago told me you need more vit c with a cold or to fight it and the zinc kills infection.

foxinsocks · 01/03/2015 07:08

Getting the flu jab for me has also meant I don't get as many colds

My children are older now so I pick all my colds up from commuting. It's like riding cattle trucks full of germs sitting on the trains in winter as they are heated too and then packed to the rafters! You can't avoid it!

SuperFlyHigh · 01/03/2015 08:42

fox snap! Though so many commuters don't cover mouths and nose when coughing etc. So annoying!
