Just to say Live Long and Prosper to Leonard Nimoy who was a science fiction legend and who has now passed away

We are so sad in the Livelong household. Whenever Leonard had passed it would always have been too soon.

DH and I are ~54 so we both grew up with ST - and now DD is growing up with an accumulation of box sets.

RIP.

I'd never heard of Fringe, is it good?

paintedfences · 28/02/2015 00:26

I'm so sad.

DamselNotInHerDress · 28/02/2015 00:27

Maybe I am a bit crackers but loved the original series and Leonard Nimoy was a dish, a talented stage actor and an amazing photographer. Hope to meet him when I get beamed up.

HelenaDove · 28/02/2015 01:00

He was also in the 1970s remake of The Bodysnatchers.

nocoolnamesleft · 28/02/2015 01:13

Odd to find myself saddened: illogical.

Spermysextowel · 28/02/2015 01:14

A great role: played with individuality & panache & if you're about 50 you'll know that being Spock in the playground was soooo much better than being Capt. Kirk.

Charlesroi · 28/02/2015 01:21

NASA, JPL, ESA, the White House and various astronauts have all tweeted tributes so I'm guessing that he must have inspired someone out there?
Let's hope the naysayers have done the same.

HelenaDove · 28/02/2015 01:32

Bet E4 show the Big Bang theory episode with the Leonard Nimoy napkin again very soon.

Topseyt · 28/02/2015 02:01

My 19 year old daughter is a big fan of the original Star Trek series, wanting (and getting) the boxed set last Christmas as her main present.

She was a Twitter follower of Nimoy and Shatner and found both of them great entertainment. Seems they are cool for another generation too. Some of those clips shown on the news tonight were classic and hilarious.

AcrossthePond55 · 28/02/2015 02:14

I was surprised at how emotional I got over his passing. He was a good man and a very talented one. Many of my generation's scientists and space explorers were inspired by Star Trek and by Mr Spock.

Live Long and Prosper, Leonard Nimoy. Today you have boldly gone where we cannot follow you.

Leonard: I am, and always shall be, your fan.
