To think it's a fecking ugly dress anyway?

Just that really. I couldn't care less what the colour is but there are far nicer bodycon dresses out there!

do you want the reason why it looks different?

Lj8893 · 28/02/2015 23:06

Yes please!!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 28/02/2015 23:14

YNBU. It looks very unforgiving. Like it would cling to all your lumps and bumps, and I have enough of them believe me

OK, the lady on radio 4 explained it like this:
Daylight consists of lots of light in the white and blue spectrum.
Your eyes filter out aspects of daylight, in order to see the world in real colours.
Everyone's eyes filter that in a slightly different way. It also depends on the light around, so the background of the screen you are using, and the contrast and the light shining on it. Also the way the dress was photographed will effect the way your eyes filter the light.

So, if your eyes filter more blue, you will see the white/gold one. If your eyes filter more white, you will see the blue/black one.

If we were all in the same room with the actual dress, we would (probably) all see the same colour. Two people in the same room looking at the same picture on the same screen will still see it differently, because your eyes are filtering the light differently. You will see it differently at different times because of the other light around.

I saw both on different FB posts.

Meanwhile someone has tattooed both on their body. Nice. Why?

dajmibuzi · 01/03/2015 06:25

So spun out by this. Confused

Thought it was a hoax until Dh told me he sees a different colour. Unless he's having me on.

What is life.

I see pale blue almost lilac with a brown lace trim or blue and black - it's odd

FryOneFatManic · 01/03/2015 12:21

I originally saw white and gold, with the white maybe shading to the lightest of pale blue. Looking at it now, the white does shade more into pale blue when I look from the normal part of my glasses to the varifocal bit.

DD told she kept seeing the colours changing from white and gold to blue and black, and back.

DS has just said he's seeing the dress changing colours: the blue changing to silver and back with the trim as gold changing to brown.

firesidechat · 01/03/2015 12:23

We are a family divided on this.

Myself and daughter see white and gold and when asked my husband sees blue and black. It's weird.

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 01/03/2015 12:33

I saw both on different FB posts.

^^This...

I am not colour-blind, but I do have an unusual vision. I have something similar to x-ray vision where I can see through things. I was at an event where the dress was worn, and it was flesh coloured with a bit of 'fur trim'.

twomorecats · 01/03/2015 12:44

I don't love it but do feel sorry for the mother-of-the-bride who wore it in the original picture.

FryOneFatManic · 02/03/2015 20:18

Oddly enough, since my last post, DD pulled the pic up on her phone to show my mum. At that point, all I could see was a proper pale blue with black trim.

I've looked at the pic 2 or 3 times since and can't see the white and gold anymore.

And I'm sure I read somewhere that the manufacturer is planning on a white & gold version, which it wasn't in originally.
