Argos should come fix my 18 month old dishwasher

I didn't buy a top up guarantee and its just me using it at home twice or so a week. Should I pester them to fix it under the EU 6 years manufacturer defect as it was clearly not up tlfor purpose? I had an engineer out shortly before it ran out of warrantee because it was failing intermittently, but when he came out it worked fine

Its a bush and the water is not heating, think it must be the heating element.

Give it a go. I would. Dishwashers are bastards for breaking down, no matter what make. We've had a few different makes over the years, and I never fail to feel disappointed that they break easily. We had cover with our previous dishwasher, which was handy, but took ages for an engineer to come out.

I think you should definitely try to get them to sort it. If that fails try contacting Bush directly.
I was unsuccessful with Argos, I had a Bush washing machine and at just over a year the block (big concrete weight at the front of the machine thing) dropped down. The machine no longer worked. I chased Argos and got no where. I did give up too easily though and didn't contact Bush, wish I had but I was sick at the time.
Good luck!

Definitely - you need to make a claim under the Sale of Goods Act. Argos will have a department at their head office to deal with such claims. Don't bother with the shop. Moneysavingexpert has standard letters on their website. Use one if those and send letter to head office. You are entitled to repair, replace or refund - their decision as to which unfortunately not yours. If they refund then they wound take into account the 18 months use and refund the remaining 42 months out of 5 years expected life.

Yes, they should. Items are supposed to be "fit for purpose" and it is reasonable to expect white goods to still work after a year.

Have a look at adviceguide.org.uk and search under "consumer". There is a CAB consumer helpline, which can give you info as well.

Sale of goods act. Same thing happened to me. They couldn't repair it and ended up having to replace it.
