What I have to say, I recognise less and less posters these days.

I wouldn't know as I'm relatively new and haven't yet created a thread - but love joining in on them

How exactly do you KNOW someone is trolling or making up stories? Because you "say so" doesn't make it true.
I'm an old user but i forgot my password and i stopped coming here for a while because certain people on here obviously have no social life and think their opinion is correct and if you don't share the same they call you a troll or whatever lame crap and then proceed to stalk you on every thread whilst being the lame internet gangster, (thats what a troll is btw)
You just have to feel sorry for them they really think their words get to people when really they are as irrelevant here as they are in the real world.

I don't know Millyx. I have just been on a thread where you posted a highly controversial opinion. I'm definitely not following you, as I posted much earlier on this one, btw. If you post a lot on Relationships or AIBU, or any specific board, you do end up crossing paths with many of the same people. And if you are often that controversial, it's not surprising that you will end up having run ins with almost always the same people.

I have never noticed anyone trolling me, although I do cross paths with people like Cogito a lot. :) And AF, and mathanxiety, and many others.

How is it controversial? Because i don't share the same opinion as some due to experience why is that marked as controversial? its realistic because of experience.

Just for the record I have a wedding thread going in AIBU and I am not a hairy troll! when I have an update I will go back on, but I actually got useful feedback and advise so still glad I posted!

People name change so much I loose track of who they are now. I'm not very good at recognising posting styles, so usually really on a more astute MN to tell me who they are

Have just been reading pineapples thread in AIBU - apparently a regular poster name changing to get support as experiencing DV during pregnancy.

But now, after 8 pages, it's being removed by MNHQ because they have reason to believe poster is not "entirely genuine"

Would you believe it? Who makes up a thread on this sort of stuff? Yeh, OK, if someone was bored maybe a juicy bridezilla thread. But this?

Juggling I'm afraid to say I have seen people make up much worse than that I left MN a couple of years ago after experiencing two troll threads in one day that where so ghastly I couldn't believe it.

I can PM you the subject matter if you want, may surprise you what people will lie about!

I have seen troll threads being allowed to stand by HQ as the advice given by lovely MNetters is so good they felt it should be left as a resource for others. I agree with this, as long as people are aware the OP is a troll.

How many regular/non regular posters are there on mn these days?

I used to be in a fb group that came off a mn thread. Think there was about a hundred of us in it, about 20 active. It eventually got deleted after fall outs. I don't know if any of them are still on mn.

I will bring wine for the coach journey and Lemon Drizzle cake :)

There are still quite a few regulars about, but I know lot of them have name changed and I cannot keep up!

The thing that is killing MN the most isn't trolling, it's the constant attempts to prove how 'right on' posters are. Threads are constantly derailed by posters itching to be offended by anything they can find, be it a word used (the acceptable vocab on MN is shrinking day by day) or some perceived whiff of -ism of choice. It is killing the humour because posters are having to tie themselves in knots to avoid offending anyone. And really there are some posters who can be offended by ANYTHING.
