Disappointed with Amazon's lame response customer service

I ordered an expensive hairbrush via Amazon who declined my (perfectly current and valid) card 3 times, asking me to re enter card details. This ended up generating 2 orders- I only have one head of hair! So i went on chat to ask for postage refund- they said they'd ask the seller, who not unreasonable refused- it's not their issue. After 1/2 an hour on Amazon chat they refused all responsibility for erroneously generating 2 orders, and said that as a gesture, they'd issue an Amazon voucher to the value of the postage.
This is actually the 2nd time it has happened, the 1st time it was a heavy book and i took the hit and gave the second order to a charity shop.
I'm no longer happy to do that and will be winding down my Amazon use as i do not like their customer service. Anyone else had similar problems?

Wait till it arrives and send the stuff back for a full refund?

they are not great recently,

I ordered a very expensive Xmas present, using prime delivery that took over 3 weeks to arrive. chased and chased and chased... they took my money and made me wait for weeks for it.

Not impressed with them at all now

No not in the same way you've had problems but I did order a ps4 for my husband which turned up without a game or headset but they refunded me the cost and a bit more so that it only cost me £200 when it should have cost £320 bonus!!

Pure I sent it back and the seller is refunding me, it's just i have to pay the postage. Mojave- result! (sort of!).

I've had similar problems with my perfectly valid credit card being declined, so eventually I gave up and registered a different card.

I haven't had the issues with lack of customer service, but I'm in the US and Amazon seems to work a bit better here. I also almost never have issues with delivery.

I've had issues with their App Store - they gave me free credit and I installed a couple of apps for the kids. However, it appears that without a kindle I cannot put a password on to stop them purchasing apps ( I can however restrict in-app purchases!!) - to use the apps you have to be signed in to amazon, which has my card details on file. My children can therefore download whatever they see fit without a password and Amazon have my card details to pay for it. I emailed Amazon and they basically told me there was no way round it, except on a Kindle. So my choices are rebuy the apps on Google Play and sign out of the Amazon apps or delete my card details from Amazon every single time I buy something ( you have to have card details on file) - not impressed.

Noddingdog it is the same with Prime Videos (films and stuff which you can watch if you are a Prime member). If you want anyone else to be able to watch them on their own, they have to be logged into your Amazon account where they could, accidentally or deliberately, buy stuff on your card and also see all your past purchases. Not great!

Last time I ordered with them they sent it with my maiden name on it (even though I know I ticked the account with my married name) - wouldn't be a problem had it gone straight to my house but I'd selected the option to get it sent to one of those CollectPlus places, so the shopowner understandably didn't think he had my order there. Total nightmare and took ages to sort out.

I use prime a lot because of the next day delivery option.
It now doesn't mean next day delivery though Angry
