Hair dye disaster

Posted here as need quick response. Mums been in hospital all week so today is the first time I've looked in the mirror and decided I need to sort myself out and look after myself so I can look after mum. So I had my first shower of the week and decided to sort my roots out. I usually use permanent dye but my hair is looking frizzy so decided to try semi permanent. I opened the bottle, slapped it all on, checked the time. Then decided to read the instructions to see if it needs same amount of time as my usual permanent one and read that my hair should have been wet, not dry Shock
Do I wash it off immediately?
Do I splash a bit of water around my head and try to wet it now without washing dye off?
Or do I wait the 20 mins and hope my greys are covered?

It took me 10 mins to find my phone and write that so now only have 10 mins left anyway, although I usually leave the permanent one on for 45 mins anyway to cover the stubborn greys

I've used semi ern hoe dyes on my hair loads of times that says to apply to damp hair but I've used on dry.

But I had read it was fine to do that with the particular brand I was using.

Semi perm hair dyes that was supposed to say!

Ok I will sit it out then and hope I've not wasted £5.97!

It shouldn't make a massive difference. Its usually to do with an even result or an easier application but the water itself, and the amount in your hair, is not something that has a big impact on the result - its the pigment and developer itself. So its more of a "formulation" thing than a chemistry thing. I'm sure it will be fine.

It will probably be fine, if there was enough to cover all of your hair thoroughly? I've used semi permanent dyes that needed wet and dry hair, and have got it wrong before by mistake. It was fine, so I hope yours is too. Worst case, you'll have to do it again I suppose?

Emulsifying it when you come to rinse should help. Wet it down with warm water and lather it up, leave it on for 5-10 mins like that before washing it out properly. It's how we refresh the ends of hair in the salon I work in, so it should help blend it all together if it's a bit patchy!

Too late ponyboy, conditioner is on!
