To name my daughter Isobel?

Ok, I have done some soul searching and realised that I have got out of touch with what names I actually like through trying to find one that's 'different'. If I am honest one of my favourite names has always been Isobel.

I understand that it is very popular, but just wanted to ask those of you with children in the 0-7 category how many you actually meet through school and so on.

Thanks.

I think it is quite popular among primary school aged kids, but by no means the most popular. It is just possible she might be one of two in a class one day, but I'd be surprised if she was one of three or more. In any case, being one of two (or more) doesn't seem to do children much harm - my DS2 has a popular name and has sometimes had another one in his class and he either doesn't feel very strongly about it or, on one occasion when he was really friendly with the other one, thought it was rather nice that they had that in common. It's a nice name and you love it so I say go for it.

Out of the 12 children in my daughters year at school, three are called Isabella!

I have an Isobel. She's 5, and the only variation in her class. I've always loved the name.

The alternative name we had was Eloïse.
