To bribe the kids to watch TSOM?

The Sound Of Music, one of my favourite movies. Dreamed of the day I could sit and watch it with the kids (amongst other favourite movies), went and bought it - and they won't watch it. They laugh in my face Sad. Would IBU to bribe them to watch it with me?

My kids love it (arrrggghhhhh). We could do some sort of swap for films (if yours are interested in LOTR?

Nah, tell them they're watchung it or you'll remove iPhone / computer / whatever privileges for a day.

That'll learn 'em

Sounds like you may have left it too late and missed the moment! You have to out serious groundwork in when children are very small if you want them to share your music and film preferences!

Flora. LOTR is definitely much more up their street. This could be the start of a new parent service here!

I'm sire I watched Oliver with them and I think I managed to squeeze in Annie a few years ago, before the rot set in. Maybe better luck with Calamity Jane, could bill it as a western with action and soldiers and Indians (ach - who am I trying to kid!)

how old are they? my dd is eight and we watched the sound of music when she was little. we went to see it on stage twice one year she loved it so much.

Ohanarama · 19/02/2015 22:53

Yes bribe as much as you have to! My DD has loved it from about the age of 5. I started by just showing her the puppet show and she wanted to see more. It didn't work with my DS though, he hates anything with singing in it. Have also been to Sing a Longa with my DD and last year we did the Salzburg tour!

YANBU!! I felt disgusted with myself yesterday when I realised my kids have never seen SOM. I was at a singalonga and people had kids with them...How could I be so lax? They're nearly 3 and 6 and the younger one could def sing Gretl's part by now...

Bambambini · 19/02/2015 23:36

I have two boys 12 and 9. The horse might have already bolted but bribery might be the only recourse.

You sell it as a military/war film. With singing. And nuns.

All I can think is sometimes when God closes a door he opens a window

sorry Wink
