Apparently, my son's school does rugby as part of PE at age 7. I think children should have a choice about participating in contact sports...AIBU?

Have to admit, I breathed a sigh of relief when DS finished his last match in Sixth Form. But as he'd had multiple facial operations for a cleft, I think I was entitled to be a touch paranoid! Grin

I have a feeling there is a football option at our school, tho rugby is very popular.

I was relieved when DS1 choose to play hockey and not rugby, that is until I went to see a match. He was about 14 and some of the boys were HUGE and very powerful. My son used to get some spectacular ball shaped bruises.

OP, I'm not sure why you have got a hard time from some posters, I thought it was a Perfectly reasonable question to ask. Confused

I sympathise Lazaretto. I hated my DSs playing Rugby at school as I did not want their handsome faces marred by broken noses. Luckily they survived unscathed but now I am starting to have the same worries about DGS. Fingers crossed.
